Did you disregard the second line? I guess you did.

No, I'm saying you're wrong. Bryce was going to be the pick as soon as they traded for the 1st pick. It was decided before the combine. It took a while for Frank to accept his fate so he decided to go along. Wilks would have suffered the same fate.

Yes, I am with you on that. Would not have happened. I'm not sure starting a rookie QB would have happened, or how any of that would have played out. It is clear that we need new blood at QB if we could get it and Wilks wouldn't deny that.

In the end on him I have to concede that what I know of who he got for the OC and DC I wouldn't have been real excited.

I love everything about Steve and what he represents. He wouldn’t/couldn’t be bought. He is the only coach under T that left with dignity still intact.

He was a winner, but I concede that he was not a champion.

He has my respect.

That was after Wilks was gone. I don't know how what I stated was not open ended enough to allow for all of that and not still be accurate. It was more of a comment of (on) the way things went.

Maybe I misunderstood your post as thinking Wilks would have chosen a different qb. My point was that Wilks would have not gotten who he really wanted either. That's my point. Maybe I shouldn't have had that last White Russian.

He already did in Arizona with Rosen. The only year as a HC and that literally already happened. They also picked his staff almost completely vs whatever the fug last years approach is categorized as.

This thread is the "they're cheating" complaint in gaming when you get beat by a better player. No, they're not cheating, you're just bad. No, Tepper isn't making all the decisions, we just suck.

This is not a good team. We have some interesting parts. We have some pieces, but they're not meshing well into a team because the bad pieces still exist. Some of that could improve with experience. Some of that could only be improved by replacing. But buckle in. The mismanagement fuged us for years. We suck now, we're likely gonna suck next year, maybe we improve some the following if poo starts going right.

I made another post that was more descriptive of my thoughts on how it may have gone with Wilks but I am of the opinion that if it came down to Bryce Wilks would balk, hard.

    • I’m going with Nick Emmanwori as the pick right now. Charlie Campbell has him ranked 5th on his post combine big board and another safety is needed.
    • That is ridiculous on several levels. First of all you have to spend 90% of your cap space every year so the idea you can just not spend it every year is against the CBA. Secondly your job is to assemble the best team you can for the fans players and team. Not to save money for the owner.  Third many players who are considered great underperform while others like Luvu and Jackson have overperformed. What about a  great player like Derek Brown who was injured and missed all of last year. Was he a waste of money?? Sure pay DK a fools ransom and hope he stays healthy. He didn't even get 1000 yards last year which averages out to 60 yards a game or play all 16 games.  And lets be real, Jones and Watson aren't  great but they aren't being paid that much either. Real glad you aren't the GM.
    • Not necessarily, they very well could just be waiting on the players who will get cut in the coming weeks/months as cap casualties and wanting to have the cap room to be able to offer more than other teams (likely our best shot at finding immediate pass rushing help for next year at this point). Also wouldn't be the end of the world to try and roll some cap into next offseason to have more space to go after bigger FA's. That's a better move than signing guys who really won't help much more than whoever else we can get on minimum or rookie deals.
