Yeah there was no risk in the trade because we traded a guy we were cutting. It didn’t work out but we lost nothing. Seems like a smart trade to me.

IDK about smart, you are just taking any option available. I think it was more of a throwaway move than anything. It would have looked very smart had it worked out, I will say.

I was just talking about it being low risk with some high reward potential. I consider those smart even if they don’t work out.

He is a classic me-first guy. I suspect the rest of his career mirrors the post-Panthers Robby Anderson.

Yeah, I don't know about that. He would have had to have taken a pretty team friendly deal, IMO.

Good example:

7 games, 7 games started, 30 Rec, 58 targets, 357 yds, 3 TD

8 games, 2 games started, 21 Rec, 32 targets, 373 yds, 2 TD

One of this guys was making over $9 mil and one of them is making $663k.

The Steelers have casually moved on from a number of talented receivers over the years while other teams couldn't wait to bring them in and profit off their supposed "mistake". Well clearly they don't make mistakes in that area. Diontae Johnson should be the one that finally sends that clear message to the rest of the league. All I'm saying is. If you need a WR and one is available or coming available from Pittsburgh use your brain and keep looking elsewhere. Just a big waste of everyone's time.

It doesn’t work until it does. Reminds me of people claiming OSU QBs can’t translate to the NFL, until one did. Again if we are trading away a player we are cutting for a small chance at a WR working out it’s still a good thing IMO. I guess if you really are wanting to be negative about it, I’m sure it carried some salary cap with it. Definitely not my specialty though…

Idk about that correlation I see your point in theory but on one side is a prospect who has never had a chance in the NFL yet on the other side is someone who has already made a rep for himself with his team and not in a good way.

Anywho as far as salary cap and this franchise goes it's just more for the fire right?

I think that it's not about Pittsburgh, per sé, it's about being willing to give guys with talent and opportunity, but also being willing to get rid of players when they show that they don't have a team mentality. All teams should be taking notes as far as I'm concerned (especially how they go about finding the talent in the first place).

Right Pittsburgh isn't the only singular team this can be applied to. But there have been other teams that have traded a talented wide receiver the last several years that didn't go on to become a complete dud and embarrassment for their new team.

Unfortunately for our Panthers it's looking like we simply do not have a knack for identifying talent at the position either via draft or trade. Sobering truth.

I agree some from some perspective about other teams, but it seems like AB's situation, alone, just breaks the scale. DJ's attitude---in my opinion---although it's closer to normal diva-ish behavior still leaves the other temperamental receivers in the dust. He's a far number two from AB, but he's still obviously the number two problem child. His own selfishness, apparently, is destroying any talent and potential that he could afford an NFL team. He's self-destructive. He's cutting his own career short, just as AB did, seemingly due to a bad attitude.
