He has The Golden Calf of Bristol level accuracy, anyone who saw him play at UF knows he wasn’t a first round pick

He is at least worth the gamble in the 1st round - elite level athleticism and elite level arm strength. Unfortunately his decision making is terrible and he can't stay healthy.

Meanwhile, we drafted a midget with a noodle arm that would get outrun by half of the offensive linemen in the NFL. But don't worry, he aced the video game part of the draft process and that was all Tepper needed to see to draft him #1

Stroud single-handedly keeping that 2023 QB class from being one of the worst in history. Bryce, AR, Levis, just an absolute trash pile of busts.

And we were the only one that traded away 2 firsts, 2 seconds and DJ Moore to pick the biggest bust of them all and of course one of those picks was the #1 overall pick in a QB draft class that has looked very strong so far.

No he wasn’t, he had no feel for the position. You don’t draft guys like Richardson in the first, you treat him like Joe Milton and draft him in the 5th round

We have seen guys like Cam, Lamar, Russell, Manziel, RG3, Mariota, Watson, Allen, Murray, Lance, Fields, etc. that would probably fall in the category of strong armed athletic freaks that all went in the 1st round. NFL teams want that QB that has the freakish talent and hope they can fix issues they have (footwork, reading the field, etc.)

To think we had a chance to draft Stroud but didn't...

You’re telling me a QB who sucked in college sucks in the pros?

Shocked.

Still would’ve been a better pick than Bryce.

Without trading absolutely. Not good is not good otherwise

Bryce young completes 80% of his check down passes and loses by 28

The point was they would absolutely have won with just average play.

    • Okay so I am reading something in The Athletic and it says that Jones had to pass through waivers. So I don't know. I looked this stuff up when we were number one there all offseason and I thought it said 4 years in the league got you vested, as they call it.  Vested gets you out of waivers as I understood it. I probably got something wrong, but when I think about the slack quality of journalism these days I wonder about that. So I went and looked, again. Well, well.  For everyone: "When a player has accrued at least four seasons in the NFL, they are considered a vested veteran. When these vested veterans get cut, they are released and their contract is terminated. When a vested veteran is released, they are an unrestricted free agent that can sign with any NFL team, and the team that released them doesn’t need to provide any additional compensation." It runs it all down here, where the quotes came from: https://www.profootballnetwork.com/waived-vs-released-nfl/ As far as Jones, the team turned down his 5th year option so I knew that meant he had 4 years in, because they re-signed him anyway, after turning down the much cheaper extra year.  The Athletic is owned by the New York Times so I shouldn't be surprised. That paper was an institution once upon a time but they let their standards go.
    • Well, we got our answer on Army today.
    • Not a chance the SEC could compete with the NFL.  In the large cities that are not in the Southeast, (LA, NYC, Chicago, SF) College football is an afterthought.
