With the first pick, don't draft a QB? Draft a DE? C'mon!

My biggest concern with Legette being able to run a full route tree is his change of direction and quickness.  He's very fast running in a straight line once he gets going, but he's not going to get separation on lot of routes that rely on anything besides the straight line speed.

He can get open a catch the ball. That's all that matters. I'm sure they are not done with receiver room by any means. It looks as if they may have 2 potential contributors now and that's a good start. Be happy they even have that right now.

Two rookies too.

Man, though. We can find a WR down the draft we don't need to keep pumping big capital into this offense with the kinds of defensive holes we have.

Now you're getting it. This team does not need to hand out anymore big FA contracts. They will have to draft their core and weapons, none of which they have yet. They have 2 rookie receivers that may or may not pan out and 1 that has been a disappointment. They do not have a qb1 or 2. The LT is still debatable and the defense, where to start. If you think they are fixing that in 1 offseason I pitty you.

my man gets it,  take the 2025 free agent off season off and just play it cool with one year deals.  They stand to have close to $150 mil in cap space in 26.  Dont fug this up

I am talking high draft capital more than cap money. There probably won't be any Burns level big cap relief and draft pick booty this year to reallocate to the offense so probably just normal FA stuff - for sure not another pair of trophy players like those guards.

It didn't get here in one year it took at least three years of draft neglect (the highest pick used for defense in 3 years is #70). It is time that offense learned to do for itself with what it has and the table scraps like the D has been fed for three damned years. With these offensive minded coaches.

I get that a QB will be a necessity. Anything else, if we had to spend I'd say if there is a seriously top flight TE I would probably be willing to sacrifice for that. I don't know of any right now.

150mil is nothing and who's coming here in 2026?

Do you understand we are not attractive?

People our problem isn't money. We suck at drafting! Until that gets better and we stop trading away all our good players we will continue to suck.

The sugar daddy plan for 2026 is not going to work. What do women use sugar daddies for? Their money!

That money will be used up on players looking to cash out and we are the perfect team to take advantage of. No thanks just draft better and worry about 2026 when it comes. Our problem is bigger then cap space.

This is where I'm at. I don't want to reach for a qb in a weak QB draft.  See how that worked out for Pittsburgh in the Pickett draft

I feel like it's the best plan also. I don't get a great feeling about the QB's this season. Would rather just sign some sort of proven vet and stay the course for next season then see where we are at

We can't hand out big FA contracts but we also can't sit on our hands. You make a couple of shrewd FA moves and it starts to tilt the scale towards actual rebuild.

If I thought like Tepper and felt the team is only a couple of players away from competing then that is probably what I would do. But this team is nowhere near being able to compete with anyone right now. They would be getting curb stomped even if they didn't have a single injury. This team will not break .500 for another 3 years. That's if Tepper doesn't fire everyone again and they magically hit on most of their draft picks. You cannot convince me otherwise.

You want to attract players in 2026? Draft a QB that players will want to play with and be apart of the new culture they create. Nobody is coming here just cuz you gotta great defense. Thats just normally how it works.

W barely got FAs here when Cam was here lol. Most of our talent during that era was from in house.

FA has become overrated. At best you get 2 great signings. Teams are building in house. This FA frenzy pipedream thing is not the correct way to build your team.

Until we start hitting on our draft picks it's gonna be hard to change the culture with or without a QB.

Cincinnati has one of the best QBs in the league yet they suck. That defense has maybe 1 good player on the entire defense. A great QB doesn't guarantee you success all the time. You need a decent roster with that QB.

    • Tetairoa McMillan.   The last 28 1st overall picks were either a QB, DE, or OT. Seeing as I don't think we'd take an OT in the 1st and give up on Ickey as an LT yet and there doesn't seem to be a clear overall #1 type of QB or DE pick this year, it very well could be a non conventional #1 overall this year, at least in regards from the last almost 3 decades of drafts. If we didn't have Horn, I'd be more open to Hunter as a CB at #1, but we have him so another CB wouldn't be how I'd use a #1 pick.  And as much as I love Legette, if we have SB contending aspirations, I don't think Legette is a #1 on a team like that, but he damn sure is an elite #2 on a team like that.  He's more of the Smith/Higgins/Waddle to Brown/Chase/Hill (in terms of role/impact, not style of play of course). T-Mac is going to be the top ranked WR on every team's board in the end.  He is going to be a true outside #1 WR who is viewed as a consensus Top 5 WR in the game by his second contract in the same way guys like Jefferson and Chase have done.  His height combined with his speed, athleticism, and hands are near impossible to find all in one player, there is a reason his generally used comp is Mike Evans (although as he's not as thick, I personally see him more as an AJ Green). Yes, as an Arizona alum I've admitted to having bias towards the player to begin with.  But he's also someone very widely being put into the Top 5 in mock drafts lately and most of them have him as the first non QB offensive player being taken, so it's not really THAT much of a homer pick on my part anyways. If a QB or DE truly separate themselves as being a can't miss prospect come draft day, I'm open to that discussion, but until then, or if it doesn't happen, T-Mac is my pick 100 times out of 100.
