And Young? Well, he’s going to have a pretty long NFL career somewhere. And it’s going to be as a backup.

Honestly, I don't see him being a career backup QB. Backup QBs at least excel at one skill (accuracy, release speed, athleticism, arm strength, etc.)

Bryce literally doesn't have 1 skill I would call above average

I'd say it was more a message to Tepper and his meddling with coaches. I get the feeling Payton didn't agree during their January 2023 meeting with the direction Tepper wanted to take the offense and their personnel before they blew up the entire franchise for Bryce.

Canales has had zero power. He is working with Tepper's pieces. Ian Thomas is a prime example. No way does Thomas remain through 3 coaches and 3 GMs. Ownership has to be the main factor and Payton wants Tepper to know publicly that he failed this franchise, the fans, the players and the coaches.

Bingo I was thinking last night the exact same thing really I was thinking hes sending a message I just didn't know why he was letting the NFL world know what we all know. But there's usually a reason and this seems to be spot on if not it's something close to your thoughts because he basically laughed at our offense at the podium usually you respect your opponent but not yesterday as we can tell by the late game blatant disrespect.

Other teams treat us like a college team at this point. We have no respect as a franchise. Might as well just move them tbh. There is no hope as long as Tepper owns this team. We'll get another team eventually. I kid you not, I had a TON of OG Panther homies that I have been friends with for a LONG time. We used to watch/go to games together frequently, have non stop conversations about the team, talk about the draft, etc. That group has dwindled down to just me and 1 other person briefly exchanging texts saying if either of us watched the game. I didn't even bother watching yesterday. I was not about to waste my Sunday watching Bryce pretend to be a QB. Fan interest is at an all time low.

It really seems Payton had a personal grudge, like if he was interested in us and wanted full control here last year and Tepper told him no way. This and Harbaugh wanting to come here just proves that Tepper is in over his head.

These are dark times, but as fans we can continue to hold onto the team's actual philosophy and mantra of keep pounding. there will be better days.

That mantra died as soon as JR sold the team tbh This isn't your old Panthers where we could go 1-7, be on our 5th RB in Nick Goings, half the team on IR, and almost rally back to make the playoffs. This is your new Panthers where we just lay down and die as soon as we get punched in the mouth (which has been a common theme since Tepper took over).

    • Best to see Icky in the position we drafted him in to see if he continues making progress. All signs point to Canales/Morgan staying on board and so decisions on whether to move him elsewhere on the line will probably be done during the offseason. Personally, I'm more concerned about a more long-term answer at safety and Moton's spot. Love the guy but he's a FA after 2026 and he'll be 32 by then. Kinda has that sign of having to let a player walk one year too early.
    • All I am saying is IMO if we were going to rework or extend his deal I think it would have happened by now.   Just feels like they are going to bite the bullet and let it run its course
    • I mean me speaking honestly per normal- RT is not even on my radar for needing fixing....it sorta should be, but I feel its around 20s in "hey this need attention". Motown could have another 5 years of solid play leftd in his body and mind. I know something needs to done with his contract, its had money pushed back into the late years like three times now. He got like a 38 million cap number cause rhule, frittterererer and this past season Dan deferred money.  I think he's been "healthy" for most of his career and seems to work hard at being able to play. He's a good player to have on the team. I got no idea how this plays out.   We need to have friendly bet about Christs next contract- I say he gets 8million per and 40% guaranteed. If he gets below that, you are the true kungfu master- deal?
