Canales equals disappointing

It seems to be why we hired Canales in the first place.

But no one - not involved - in choosing Bryce Young with the overall top pick of all players in the draft pool, should have his fate tied to Bryce's fate. That is just completely unfair.

I know it probably has already happened but still.

I don't think him being fired means his fate is/was tied to Bryce.

Andy Dalton has looked frankly just as bad the last couple weeks as Bryce Young.  It hasn't mattered if it was a bad young QB or a vet.  O is garbage....behind one of the highest paid and better OLs in the NFL.  That's a Canales problem.

Personally, I think it all stems back to Tepper setting things up for failure day 1.  I was actually ok w/ the rah rah cheerleader type but a first time HC (whose experience is 1 year as a meh OC) did not need to also be calling plays.  That never made sense.   Canales should of hired a real OC.  To call plays.  While he figured out the HC part.  To me, that is why he has no O after the first scripted series.   Canales isn't a good playcaller and he is in overhead trying to be everything.  Which makes him good at nothing.  He isn't calling good plays, managing the game well, etc.

Team looks undisciplined

His in game decisions are not helpful and not smart

same for personnel groupings

I understand the challenges with what he has but for the love of God, a fake punt on your own 23?   That call on 4th and 2 to the short side of the field, please

No point in discussing the defense …but to be the OC and the HC, it is not working

I agree some of the play calls were suspect especially that fake punt but as someone mentioned earlier this isn’t close to being the main problem of this season. Canales deserves a mulligan with the growing injuries and lack of talent and depth.

I honestly don't know at this point. There's far too many issues and if Tepper is smart enough, he gives Canales a chance to bring in his own QBs. Bryce and Dalton are not fits for what he seems to want.

Also, what isn't really being brought up is how our godawful defense is a detriment to getting our own offense ready for gameday. Part of me feels the O as a whole gets constantly overwhelmed on gameday because they are all but unchallenged when practicing against our own guys during the week. Wouldn’t surprise me if Canales goes with something that seemed to work in practice and have it fail on Sunday because our own D makes everything look like it will work.

Personally. I think Canales is fine. There is no leaders on this team. The QB position is in shambles but with Andy we atleast put up some points. We lost alot of good players and replaced them with no names. Burns, Chinn, Luvu were our best players on defense. ALL GONE. We have no consistency because we dont retain players and expect us to gel together. We cant with constant switch around and no leaders. Canales is calling good plays but we are too inept to do anything.

I want to see what Canalles can do with a QB of his choosing, i have a real hard time seeing us win anther game with this all time bad defense so he will have a shot to pick his QB

The defense is why we won't win. They are why we did win last year. (even just those two)

What injuries have the offense dealt with? Thielen? WR is looking like the deepest spot on the team.

the injuries have been on the other side of the ball where Dave Canales does nothing. He didn’t even pick the defensive coordinator.

everyone would be fine with the defense sucking poo and the team not winning if the offense wasn’t worse than it was last year. What do the injuries to Shaq and Brown etc have to do with barely averaging two tds a game?

What has Canales done to suggest he deserves a chance to bring in a qb? We’ve had 8 games of this and it’s getting worse every week. What about what you are seeing on Sundays fills you with confidence that this guy can pick a qb? He didn’t do it in Seattle, he didn’t do it in Tampa, and he sure as poo hasn’t done it in Carolina. He went into training camp with these qbs.

what do you mean he thinks things are going to work because they work in practice? That isn’t how game planning works….at all.

lost corbett for the yr and lewis and Motown missed 2 games each. I will not dare include Thomas missing the first few...

With the OL maybe being best in panthers history(depth has been tested and passed thus far) it is a huge letdown to watch them struggle each along with the key point that NO improvement has taken place. Until this week Hubbard average like 5.5 per carry.

The offense should be better than the showings each week. That falls right on canales and his bff.

I don't think it is really going that great with Christensen at C. They aren't in synch, and really haven't gotten in synch all year as far as I can tell. I am not happy with Icky to be honest. Okay at best to me.  Not having Tremble has hurt too, I think they were counting on more from him.

But this is about when I was expecting to see things come together better, halfway through the first year. Not quite sure why they can't get a tough yard when they have to. Maybe it will start to bear fruit.
