I am Vindicated

Yes you are!  Not a college guy myself but have been beating the Coker drum since preseason.  I've had a few posts earlier in the season where I wanted to see Coker given Mingo's playing time.

Great call on your part!

Some huddlers were screaming for him before we signed him.  You know, the coach's ability to recognize talent is alarming--You keep Mingo and put Coker on the PS...How much do you need to see?

Moore has also been solid--as a #5 WR.

The thing about Coker--he catches it when he is targeted most of the time--the only time he doesn't is when the QB throws a bad ball.   I think Legette and Coker can be the dynamic duo next year--need a #3 and maybe a #4--if we can get a third or fourth rounder for Johnson....

They need another Diontae like guy and a stud TE. Sanders ain't it there.

Had him in most of my mock drafts, was surprised when he was pick up.

If Legette is playing like a #1 by the end of the season, it would help, but I am not sure he is more than a #2 and Coker would be a very solid slot--so you could be right---problem I have with that is no legit #1 is coming here in free agency and we should go QB and Edge in the draft---we shall see.  I mean, you may not need an Alpha if you have three Betas.

They factor in draft position over actual ability too much of the time. Its the same reason we went into the season with Bryce as the unquestioned starter.

I am not sold that we go Qb in the draft up top. Just because we need so much for one thing, and there is no real clear savior at QB so far as I can see in October of their season. To be fair I haven't even looked semi seriously at it. All I am capable is semi.

But also I think Canales skill set suits a vet QB better, and in lieu of an overwhelming option in the draft let's just pick some talent there. Preferably defense.

The thought that these guys can at least identify a UDFA that could make it helps me envision someone like - I shouldn't even say a Smitty - but someone good that can translate to the league that is still on the board in the 3rd or very early in the 4th round.

    • If he tries to do that I have a feeling the league is gonna tell him to butt out.
    • I think you are at a major advantage if you have the ability to run the football as a quarterback. It can mask a lot of issues. Much like RG3, or Anthony Richardson, immediate impact is a lot easier with a running QB. Anthony Richardson already appears to be a bust, despite him turning some heads early last year. Vince Young was a ROY. I do think Jayden is a lot better than a lot of those guys, but I think he's got a fair amount of development to do as well.  Stroud looks a lot better than Bryce, I won't dispute that, but he's taken a very big step back this year off of last year. Houston has a myriad of issues on the offensive side of the ball.  This is just a trend we seem to be seeing everywhere. Very few QB's are pro ready anymore, and just when we are ready to give up on a guy, he does the thing where he becomes competent, (not necessarily good). Sam Bradford, Sam Darnold, Baker Mayfield, Geno Smith, Jameis Winston, Marcus Mariota, and so on and so forth. The list of evidence is enormous. But to your point, the highest miss rate of any position in football is quarterback. The vast majority of them do not pan out. More than likely, that is the case here.
    • Pretty alright draft prospect videos on Cam Ward and Shedeur Sanders.
