Coke Heads Stand Up

Recommended Posts

I’m excited about XL and Coker once we get a real QB. They’ve both shown more this year than we’ve seen out of a rookie WR in a while. Maybe DJ, but other than him it’s been a LONG time. KB looked decent his rookie year on paper but Cam was force feeding him to get those stats.

I refuse to get too reactive over receivers in this joint.  But from what I've seen, he knows how to gain leverage even if a guy is stuck to him.  Works well against man.  Has made noise against decent vets.  Also has some decent short area work against zone.  Very surprised by what he's been able to do on this anemic offense.

Given we had dibs on UDFA claims and he was our priciest signing bonus, he was basically pick 258.

And for what we've endured all over the draft -- and tried with KB, Colbert, TMJ, Gettis, Jarrett, Pilares, Armanti, Shi, Godwin, Biddle, hell, Joe Adams, could we have finally had an okay hit on a WR that so many teams seem to figure out and we consistently miss?

Just chuck him and XL the ball as much as we can.  Keep getting them involved - they look like they can stick around.  Would like to see what they could do in an offense that's got a bit more psaz.

Even on that second pick Bryce threw, Had that ball been thrown any higher, Coker was coming down with that ball. Coker had it in his hands reaching down and over the defender, the defender just happened to turn around at the best moment and react to the ball being thrown right at him.

Yep.

In totality, 12 rec (14 targets), 186 yards, 1td in 4 games as basically our 3rd option.  That is a super promising start, especially considering our passing game average during that stretch has been 168 yards per game.

Some fun stats:

Coker owns ~28% of our passing yards since he started playing full games (not counting the 1 target vs. CIN.

And that's on only 14 of 128 pass attempts this team has made -- so he's been able to account for nearly 30% of our entire passing game off of an 10.9% target share.  That's wild.  Don't know if that's more impressive for him or shows how poorly we've been throwing the ball.

    • They gave him franchise QB money. Sorry but if you don't earn it you can be embarrassed.   He's rich he can take it. Stop feeling sorry for people who can't live up to their contract. This isn't a sport to be soft. Daniels deserves to give back some of that money he stole if you ask me.
    • And it was coming off of a bye week. Perhaps he should vacation a bit in Germany in the off season, something certainly seemed to help him there.  No, really... He showed maturation and the possibility that he's turning a corner. That wasn't the NY Giants out there, but the back to back Super Bowl champions with the #3 defense in the league, with them coming off of a prime time loss. And that was a 9-1 team we just played literally down to the last second. Bryce played so well that maybe, maybe he wins over some nay-sayers. It's still early, though, but what a nice breath of fresh air that was. You can win quite a few games if that is your normal performance. It is obvious that we are still on the learning curve, though. But that was one helluva test he just took. Some of these QBs coming out of college just don't have a lot of games under their belts, especially in top end programs. They are perhaps just a year to two years behind center in games that matter before they move up. It can take them some time to hit their stride. We can still be cautious about our future and still celebrate a great game by the kid, though, and we should. He earned the laurels today, or had before they were snatched away at the last second.
