Do not over think it. Just bring in a franchise player, no trade downs etc... we need cornerstones and you can get one at the top of the draft. Hopefully they have conviction in a QB and if not that get the best pass rusher.

Thats not overthinking it thats not maximizing the value of the pick especially for a team like ours

Anyone else interested in Drew Allar?

I'm staring to see him in some mocks now, but I think alot of people are just waiting to see how he does through the rest of the year especially vs Ohio State.

If he balls out vs Ohio State, and Penn State wins the Championship?? He could easily pass up Ward and Sanders and shoot up to #1 .

Very good size and young, and markedly better passer thus far vs his previous years.

He's also simply young enough to just decide to go back to school. So there's that.

Alot of people just exercising caution after seeing what's recently happened to Carson Beck, Quinn Ewers, and Jalen Milroe. Any of them could go way back up in stock if they finish the year strong and have deep playoff runs.

I don’t follow Penn state much but from the draftniks on Twitter his 2023 decision making was awful but it has improved in 2024.

From what I gather, as I dont watch penn state at all, this kid has a rocket arm and likes to put the ball in tight windows, has good pocket presence but has crappy footwork under duress (sounds familiar) and isnt overly athletic (again, sounds familiar).

I need to watch some of his clips for sure

Try to trade back with a team in love with a QB should be Plan A.  If you don't get a good enough offer and like Ward as a franchise QB then you take him.  If you aren't sold on a QB you have to draft BPA which might be Hunter at WR?? I don't see a pass rusher that's a clear cut number 1 at this point.  If that changes then you take that player...  You have to walk away with a franchise player if you are picking there.

I think in most years the opportunity to go back is there with the exception of the Pickett type year.  But there are 2 clear qb prospects that someone will want.

Just get a good return for it.  I don't want to drop too low for a meh return.  I'd love the get the Raiders to part with Crosby and some picks for it (wishful thinking).  My dream would be trading the Raiders for the haul I mentioned, they get Sanders and we still land Ward.  There is also a chance our staff falls for Ward.

This guy gets it.

Sanders is not playing here. If we get #1 you trade him to the team most desperate to move up which imo will be Las Vegas.

If Canales has Sanders as his #1 QB then expect a great trade package in return if you want his #1 QB.

And 1 of them will certainly not want to play here.

Which is why you explore trading back to those teams who desperately want 1 of those QBs. For all we know we might still be able to get Ward in a trade back scenario. Depending on the package we might could trade back up for Ward.

    • They gave him franchise QB money. Sorry but if you don't earn it you can be embarrassed.   He's rich he can take it. Stop feeling sorry for people who can't live up to their contract. This isn't a sport to be soft. Daniels deserves to give back some of that money he stole if you ask me.
    • And it was coming off of a bye week. Perhaps he should vacation a bit in Germany in the off season, something certainly seemed to help him there.  No, really... He showed maturation and the possibility that he's turning a corner. That wasn't the NY Giants out there, but the back to back Super Bowl champions with the #3 defense in the league, with them coming off of a prime time loss. And that was a 9-1 team we just played literally down to the last second. Bryce played so well that maybe, maybe he wins over some nay-sayers. It's still early, though, but what a nice breath of fresh air that was. You can win quite a few games if that is your normal performance. It is obvious that we are still on the learning curve, though. But that was one helluva test he just took. Some of these QBs coming out of college just don't have a lot of games under their belts, especially in top end programs. They are perhaps just a year to two years behind center in games that matter before they move up. It can take them some time to hit their stride. We can still be cautious about our future and still celebrate a great game by the kid, though, and we should. He earned the laurels today, or had before they were snatched away at the last second.
