People need to stop obsessing about draft picks. If you have a good player sign them and cut all the poo ones.

Thats how you build a good football team and not be stuck in rebuilding for 7 years…

Our team is the worst in the league.  We don't have many good players that are worth overbidding on for a second contract.  You do what the Lions did.  Auction off players for picks and build a new core through the draft.  Chuba is good, but looks better because of our pricey OL.

I both agree and disagree. You do build your team through the draft. But you don’t let go of players who have proven to be great and trade them for a 5th round pick that turns into a JAG.

That’s how you end up with a bunch of practice squad and JAGs on defense on your way to the worst performing unit in NFL History.

No one is saying overpay…but if you have great players you do have to PAY and hope they aren’t like luvu who just wants to gtfo.

Who is our great player you are wanting us to pay? We paid DB who can be a cornerstone player you build around. I agree with paying great players. DJ isn’t a great player though. He is a good WR2 who also isn’t the best for a locker room. Throwing teammates under the bus, giving up on routes. These aren’t the type of players you extend while struggling.

I wont, they will be paying the division premium

No, they WOULD be, from a competent organization.

but I’m sure there’s a passage in the Bible or pornhub TOS about giving away players to your old team in the hopes they take you back in the offseason.

    • Team is dangerous right now, all four lines are contributing and the speed at which the guys play at is tremendous.
    • And every nfl player wannabe tries to up their draft position through things like the combine and theyre all basically lying though those drills theyve practiced hundreds of times that have little bearing on if theyre a good football player. The pro days are even worse. All you have to do is dupe 1 team. Is it right? No. But until teams put more emphasis on college tape vs. What they did in shorts with no defense it'll happen every year. I doubt there is a single player that wouldn't try anything to up their draft prospects.  Young had years of tape and that shouldve been what the decision was based on. Not a scale and throwing in shorts.  ( btw I think the combine and pro days are 90% a waste of time) Young has it financially made already. It's up to him if he wants to be a good football player too. I think the benching was the best thing that could've happened to him. It remains to be seen if it was enough
    • This.  Honest introspection on his behalf would have seen that size and strength were his biggest weaknesses. He looks no different. With the programs in the NFL, he could have come back to camp 10 lbs of muscle heavier. Easily. If had done so, it would have been reported on. It would have been the hottest story…. But we never saw anything of the sort, so it probably never happened.  He showed improvement this last game, likely from Andy’s tutelage. He has to show something VERY special to close the season out to change my thinking on him… like 4 game winning streak with a clutch 4th quarter comeback. Then maybe.
