Tepper era biggest blunder…

It's been a cascading series of errors with each one worst than the last one. But it all started with not letting Cam play it out and hiring a college coach.  

 

I hope they just let things play out this year. No firings, no trading up to draft a specific player, etc...

Incorrect. In my thesis on David Tepper I will elaborate on this further. 

If we draft Fields that year there is no reason to give up capital for Sam Darnold (2,4,6) and no reason to trade a future third for matt corral the next year. 

So we could have had Fields + a 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 6th round pick. And yet we wonder why this team has no depth. 

Further and most importantly....there would have been no sense in trading up for bryce. We would have been entering year 3 with fields. If he had sucked the year prior we would have had a top 3 pick. If he had been decent with Steve Wilks we likely make the playoffs or come close but either way we do not trade up. 

If he sucked last year then we would have ended up with Williams, Daniels or Maye. 

By passing on Fields when he fell to us we ultimately doomed ourselves for the future.

exactly. It was the first of many tepper moves of deleting something but instead of just embracing the tank giving up resources to patch work the hole he just made. This has been continued ad nauseum since that year.

Tepper is like a degenerate gambler. He goes to Vegas with 100 dollars in his pocket. Instead of picking and choosing his spots he goes to the roulette table and immediatley puts 100 on a specific number. This of course doesn't work. Now he sees all his buddies having a great time so he goes and pulls another 100 out. This time however he puts it all on red to get back in on the action and loses again. 

So he goes back and pulls out another 100...

He is not the 1st bad owner in the league. I think he is too dumb to know that he doesn't know. He said on the All In documentary that the league is set up for everyone to be .500, and it is all the other things that make the difference between being a winner and loser.

So when you really parse that down, he believes that the team could be 1 player away, 1 coach away, and that, more than anything is why this team has no direction, has no identity, has no core, has no face of the franchise, and has no hope of success.

Bust Young was going to be the type of qb, with the way he throws the ball, that we wouldn't have to go out and spend resources on good wrs. We are always just 1 player away. I really think that he completely bought into Rhule's nonsense about being really really really close every week, until it became obvious it wasn't working.

And some of our fans want to keep making the mistake. I remember seeing posts a month ago stating posters didn't care if Tepper is the one that pulled Young. Frustrating we still have fellow fans in favor of that behavior when it is that type of behavior that keeps good football people from coming. Which is the only way to turn it around, not # of draft picks and FA's.

It's over for the foreseeable future just to many other well run clubs.

That was a dilemma. He wasn't right, as I remember, and was up for an extension. He didn't seem to want to concede any market... uh considerations.. or his team didn't, which makes it difficult, until you know you are getting the full Cam Newton. Shake and pour.

The one year we hired Mcadoodle Rhule was a lame duck so yea count that if you want to. 
 

And no Teddy Bridgewater is not a succession plan. Not even bridge QB worthy despite his name.

If he wasn’t offered at least what they gave Bridgewater they fugged up. Even if he really was toast I would have taken zombie Cam over the rotating circus we’ve had since, and frankly he had earned the benefit of doubt.

Yeah. I don’t know what was going with that. I just remember it was when the QB salary numbers were really heading north big time.

I seem to remember him having 20million or 18 or something for the last year on his deal and thinking it would take closer to 30 to get their attention.
