The Carolina Panthers should go back to Bryce Young

Recommended Posts

I think these reps Bryce is getting in garbage time are supposed to be somethign of a PROVE IT moment for him, except he keeps proving he is incapable of moving the ball. Bryce has shown repeatedly that with him under center, this team simply cannot score points at all. Andy can. 2 of the last 4 losses were winnable games with Andy in. I cannot remember the last time we had a winnable game with Bryce on the field.

Being on this site for over a decade now I can positively say Panther fans are the most bi-polar and yet forgiving fan base I have ever listened to.

BRYCE SUCKS.....He is too small and doesn't have the arm strength for an NFL caliber QB. The play skill of NFL level talent is waaaay above college. He is not it, forget it and give up hope for fug sake on him yeesh

Anybody suggesting we play him knows it is an unpopular opinion and needs to be ready for pushback. It ain't no mystery Bruce is history.

Heck, he's been so bad, our phones still don't want to remember the name and keep autocorrecting to Bruce.

He literally cannot run the offense. He is incapable of doing the basic things necessary to run it. Dalton can.

does that mean Dalton is good? No. But it means Dalton doesn’t have to run the gimped, pathetic scheme Young was

At this point it doesn't matter.let him play.

If you think the team is somehow increasing his trade value by not playing him after what has transpired after the Raiders game you do not know how this works. If the Panthers won't attempt to start him after the way Andy's been playing then that says all any prospective suitors need to know. The Panthers will cut him as soon as it is financially feasible to do so because Young has 0 trade value. End of story.

Yeah, I honestly can't see any team trading anything for Bryce. The risk to playing him is less about Bryce's trade value and more about signaling to the locker room that you've given up and waved the white flag. Which honestly isn't THAT big of a deal because these guys are dumb. They've been playing football their entire lives. They know this team is cooked. Where you have a specific issue is the offensive skill position players, particularly the receivers. They're gonna be pissed and get very frustrated very quickly if you go back to Bryce.

He can't look any worse than Dalton has the last few weeks. Might as well give him a chance at developing because I highly doubt we draft another qb this year.

Yes he easily can.

So how would that work with our cap status? This is likely just more media bullshit.

I could use that argument to say that I should start

    • Yes.  And this converts directly to confidence.  Does the coach have confidence to call a deep dig or seam route?  Does Bryce have confidence in his ability to be the Alpha?  Do his teammates have confidence.  About film--when I see Cam Newton's pre-snap confidence vs. Bryce's, it is night and day.   Film--tells you if the WRs are open (why l love watching the Replay telecasts from the end zone cameras--you can see it.  I have seen 2 WRs open and Bryce's eyes are on the outlet WR or the pass rush. )  You can see progressions, and he has improved a bit--but he is very quick to rush through 1 and 2 and checkdown--that is a lack of confidence in his ability to read the defense.  I had a former NFL TE (Deems Maye) who played QB in high school (not sure about college) tell me that the best QBs read the defense by knowing where everyone will be when the ball is to arrive--not where they are.  I think his QB at the time was Humphries.  He said that Humphries would throw the ball into coverage before the cuts etc.  because he understood DB momentum, zone areas, etc.  and he could just see it.  Said so when people say nobody was open, they are usually right because nobody should be "open" when the QB has the ball--when the ball arrives, everyone should be open.  He said Humphries was never "great" but his skills were limited--from a small school--but his ability to read a defense made him never give up on a route.
