Trade everyone and fully rebuild..

I think first and foremost, is that we have to establish some type of identity for this team. I’m not sure what that identity will be, but we have to start somewhere. We should probably go back to playing defense and running the ball even though that is an antiquated way of playing football in 2024, at least we were doing that well when we were doing it. The days of the cardiac cats.

Not really. They still have Jennings and Deebo. Plus Pearsall is now playing.

I actually don't think they are in panic mode at WR.

This is their year to try and win the SB, they're going to have to pay Purdy after this season, who knows what CMC's future will be (assuming he can get back this year for the playoff run), and their overall cap situation is going to get ugly soon.

Trying to replace Aiyuk with Jennings and Pearsall and thinking that's good enough to help turn around a struggling team in their final year of their best SB window would be criminal.

Horn can be one of those guys that we can build the defense around. We could use him as a captain for a young  defense because he’s expressed that he wants to be here and that he was upset that we let some players go on defense.

I would normally agree but he has not played well this year(in very challenging conditions, mind you) and he looks like he is starting to make some business decisions. I can't blame him, TBH.

The organization SHOULD have better insight into his mindset but if I started to get a whiff of him checking out, I would move on. His value is only going to get lower over time and we classically make this mistake of not moving players when they aren't going to be or don't want to be part of our future(Peppers, Norman, Burns, etc). The only time we recently got very good compensation for a player was CMC and then we proceeded to squander the picks we received.

I would like to keep him around but if he isn't into it, it's time to move on. No hard feelings, it just didn't work out here for a multitude of reasons.

One day we have to actually rebuild and stop trading everything

As I have said a few times now, there is no rebuilding. There is nothing left to "rebuild." This is now just plain building.

There is no rush because there is no obvious end to this in sight. Furthermore if guys are not into the future of this whole fiasco, get compensation and move on. There is no reason to keep guys around that have no desire to be here. It's as bad for us as it is for them.

What about adding the owner??

You have to eliminate him from the team decision making process somehow because he sucks at it. Hiring someone much smarter than him and has proven they know what they are doing would be a good start. Until that happens I have no faith that anything will change.

They actually do have a smart FO that doesn't seem to make panic decisions. They aren't the Jets. They know that this can continue past Shanahan if need be.

I don't think they are likely to make this sort of move at all.

If we were rebuilding that would be something. We're retooling and that means Dave doesn't even know WTF is going on. This team is beyond broken. When the best GM you can hire is partially responsible for the turd you already have, you are only going to get worse.

100%. I HOPE(but don't believe) that this was just window dressing/PR on the turd that they likely knew this was going to be. If anyone in that organization had any shred of sense, they could have seen this coming.

Sadly, I kept saying all offseason this was the worst roster in franchise history. I was very surprised so many posters pushed back on that. I am not reveling in being correct, I am just genuinely perplexed that people didn't see it.

I have said(and am still trying to get a sportsbook to give me odds on) and maintain that we are not likely to see a winning season before 2030.

Not to turn this into a crying moment, but given the recent draft classes and tepper......... I dont believe its possible (outside dumb luck) this team can turn into a winner.

i listened to buck the other day and he said in past years you could take a team like carolina and grid them into a better/winnning team. But NFL rules banned most of the grid and its a school deal now, you can not toughen up these guys. You have to find another way......carolina has no idea what way to use.

its unfair to judge, but sanders just had his best game and wallance is still racking up tackles....plus XL is getting open and there doesnt need to be a 3 year wait. I mean that class looks better than 2023 right now.........

if the team needs talent and you have the worst talent identifiers in the league.....man that is the kill shot...

    • What I really learned here is that the Carolina Panthers aren't anywhere near as bad as I initially thought they were earlier this year.  We've got a young and growing offense with some promising parts. But it still needs some tweaks and improvements.  We really still could still use a dominant #1 WR. But Chubba,  Legette, Coker,  and J.Sanders have generally looked decent. Bryce took a big leap after the benching. We can score enough points to keep pace with 2x defending super bowl champions, so offense isn't a huge issue. Main thing that needs improvement is defense. We sorely need a CB 2, and a number of new players at Dline and LB.  We're not quite as bad at edge with Wonnum showing promise.  But we definitely need 1 or 2 more edges Clowney is old.  Run D is probably worse prevailing theme these past couple years. We really need a good young stud or two to pair with Derrick Brown and another LB to pair up with Trevin Wallace. If Morgan and Canales can focus on rebuilding the defense this off-season and possibly going out and getting a #1 WR. This team could easily be somewhere around 7-10 to 10-7 and flirting with playoffs in 1 or 2 seasons. Overall this game has made me feel alot more positive about the direction of the team.
    • With our picks we need pass rush, lb, Safety, a speedster yac wr, o line depth and I still want a mid round qb. We got 9 picks and 8 in the first 5 rounds. If they pull Off another solid draft we be cooking.
    • We had one passing touchdown against the Giants and one passing touchdown against the Chiefs today. Yes a good backup can replicate that. And that is why Andy Dalton in significantly less games has the same number of 30 point outings as Bryce Young. I am on board with you guys about wanting to be hopeful for the future. Today was a good performance to build on especially at home. But let's please keep things in perspective. BTW the Bucs who honestly aren't even that good blew the doors off the Giants today after we went to overtime against them with 17 points. Again. Perspective.
