Hill has been playing well.  But if we are building for the future, and they see something they like in Smith-Wade, probably a smart move---it could signal the beginning of some veterans being purged to develop younger talent and maybe get some picks.  We shall see--Hill was a solid nickel--just old.  (32 I think)

I don't have a single negative thing to say about Troy Hill other than the fact that he is 33 on a team that is desperate for youth.  Sad we couldn't find a trade partner for him though.

He was a bright spot, imo.  Maybe a signing on a team making a playoff run that gets an injury--PFF score (going from memory) was about 63 and Smith-Wade is 40.8.

It's not our of the question that he may have asked for his release. Surely there's a playoff contender out there that could use an upgrade at nickel.

Well, I think he was looking like a downgrade from his 2023 self. And if we do lose something isn't like 45 points against is that much different than 38 points against, they need to get the young players the reps to evaluate them... 

Just total speculation but people in his unit have been fuging up their assignments and it isn't always clear to us who was making the errors. That has to stop.

Troy Hill’s biggest issue has been run support/tackling I believe.

I have no qualms playing the younger guy plus Dane Jackson will be back.
