What is your definition of competitive next year?

.500 or greater season, no blowouts on losses, legit consideration for playoffs.

i don't expect this team this year to be at their best but i expect them to be figuring it out and getting one step closer to being a dominant team. i feel good about the defense going forward. if matt moore can do consistently what he did last season and we get a little better at WR i think we have a team that can go all the way in the next few years.

With this schedule if we don't have a 9-10 win season it is a epic fail. With how this team finished last year we should be a playoff team this year. If not then it will show what Jerry had on his mind this offseason and turn off fans thinking he wasn't all in this season.

how would that show that jerry wasn't all in? it could just mean that fox did his usual holding people back. it could also mean that this team is young and has some players that still have to grow a bit into their new roles as starters. it could also mean that we have had a ton of injuries. it could also mean that matt moore isn't the answer.

there are lots of reasons that we wouldn't have a 9-10 win season and none of them have to do with jerry purposely tanking this season. that is still the stupidest thing that i have heard on here and considering the level of ignorance displayed here on a daily basis is really saying something.

Being competitive to me, with this teams history, means staying healthy and having a great run defense.

We can't lose 4 defensive tackles or 6 running backs and have a competitive season. Fox always rights the ship but it's always too little to late.

We can't get gashed in the running game. It throws everything off. When somebody is getting 150+ it means WE can't get our 150+. Which is our forte. Ruins the defense as well, defensive ends have to start pulling up, D gets tired.

Somebody also brought up the good point of hammering teams below us. The team needs that pride and killer instinct. I think our D is there now. Our leaders in Beason and Harris consider it personal when somebody doesn't fall backwards.

It's incredibly obvious stuff, basically I'm saying if we play well we will win(DUH), but it's very telling.

it's one of those things that gets repeated and discussed to the point that it starts becoming truth. Everybody falls victim to it once in a while.

You act like you know what you are talking about but you don't. Their are articles out about this same thing. So there are people out here who think this. People in the media here and outside NC are writing the same things. Maybe they are rebuilding but they haven't said that and if you were a fan form the begining you would know this team has never been this inactive. This team should not be in a rebuilding mode. This team at the end of the season was good they won the last 4-5 games and look like they were making a launch pad for next season. Now we are saying a 500. record would be ok??? No not with the 3rd place schedule or a team that was close last year.

Dude you seem too be always defending Jerry. Even when he raised ticket prices on a community hit hard by the economy. Are you a Richardson???

i would like to revise my criteria for having a successful season. if we beat the browns, bears, split with our divisional opponents, and the bears didn't make the playoffs, then i would consider that a successful year even if we aren't divisional or conference champs. in fact, if we blow the fudge out of the bears, and they have a worse record than us, then that would also be a successful season in my mind. in fact, if peppers has a career ending injury, that's really all i care about. we could lose all 16 games as long as peppers gets knocked out. any of that would be ok to me.

i would like to further revise my criteria. if someone from our team causes peppers career ending injury, i would be content with two winless seasons and i wouldn't complain a peep.
