Mediocrity has been the norm for UNC basketball for a few years now too.

Which is why Hubert has to go. If it wasn't for a fluke hot streak getting a #8 seed to the title game in year one there would be literally no one still holding out any hope for this guy. He's been awful and it's trending downward.

Matt Doherty 2.0?

The damning thing with Hubert is that his team strategy hasn’t changed at all since he got here.  We don’t have size…maybe try a zone defense?  How about neutralizing the other teams scorer.  How about do anything except shoot 3s.

Also, his recruiting has been very average.  We are UNC we have to be bringing in top guys but Hubert is killing that.

We need a true national relevant coach and leader.  Hubert is not it

Top guys aren't interested in UNC. They're interested in the NBA factory schools such as Duke, Kentucky, etc and whoever offers them the most NIL money. And that's not UNC in both cases. UNC has coasted on their history and being MJ's school for years. And that just doesn't work in this era.

This makes no sense.  UNC has everything any recruit could want.  Not sure if you have seen the amazing infrastructure they have built.  UNC should get all the great players but Hubert is just bad at this recruiting.

They can’t move on from him with this Belechick hire and UNC decision makers clearly see that Football makes the money now

Take your fanboyism out of it. UNC hasn't gotten top recruits for years. UNC wants guys that'll be there over the long haul, but those top 1 and done guys want to go to the NBA pipeline schools and since NIL and the portal, those schools willing to pony up the most cash.

Thanks for the validation on UNC recruiting.  But yes…NIL will ruin college sports.

Ohio State just bought a championship.

    • First on T-Mac, I 100% expect him to be the top WR from this class, however I think expecting him to put up 1k+ as a rookie isn't necessarily fair, especially since you're putting it in perspective of how many other rookie WRs have done that in recent years. And Thielen is the reason for that. Not many (if any) of those 1k+ rookies had someone like Thielen there when they were drafted, and no matter how good T-Mac is this year, Bryce is still going to lean on his existing chemistry with Thielen unless he's drastically lost a step this offseason and just can't get open like he's been able to in his career. As I pointed out in another thread the other day, looking at MHJ last year is the way to look at T-Mac's season if Thielen plays a full and healthy season.  MHJ had McBride "steal" 110+ catches and 1,100+ yards in what was a pass happy offense (Kyler was 9th in the league in attempts), it's going to be hard for any rookie to put up more than the 800ish yards he had last year in that scenario.  Especially if we follow a similar game plan to last year and be a run heavy team. In terms of XL, you're completely right, jumping up to get a project 2/3 isn't smart, and if we knew we needed a future slot from that pick, yes, Ladd would have been a much better pick. But at this point, those are all sunk costs, even taking T-Mac at 8 is now considered a sunk cost. Forgetting the past or who we maybe should have taken last year now knowing future roles, I still think T-Mac, XL, Coker can be one of the Top 1-3 WR rooms in the NFL in a few years, I honestly think they really do have that potential in them.
    • Maybe we should have just drafted a corner?  Crazy, I know.  One of the few positions we knew had to be addressed in the draft and nadda.
