Yeah the loaded class of TLaw, Zach Wilson, Lance, Fields, and Mac Jones wasn’t that loaded after all.

Yea and the Kenny Pickett class wasn’t so hot either.  Most classes aren’t good.  Especially when they aren’t advertised as such.  But you guys go ahead and fawn over the next EJ Manuel.

Sometimes that's the way it goes and generally speaking as of late it's rarely the "consensus QB1" that ends up being the best of the bunch.

Heck, of late, the #1 overall QB has been a meh to bad investment for most.

So just don’t draft one again because they might be bad? I’m leaning bridge QB and edge with our first right now. We have to upgrade this roster’s talent. However, out of the class I like Ward the most so far.

Na but I wouldn’t take one of these guys in the 1st.  I don’t see anyone that has it besides Sanders.  We need a QB but that need isn’t going to make any of these guys good enough.

Trevor, Fields and a wildcard with Lance.  People that were high on Wilson and Jones were simply inflating their stock.  I knew Wilson was all hype and thought Jones at best was a solid backup/below average starter.  I'll eat crow on Lance.  I really liked him, but he taught me a VERY valuable lesson. RSO QBs are NOT NFL ready. I'll never fall into that trap again, no matter how physically gifted they may happen to be.

Bit early for this question but we can all see how this season is trending.

I thought this would be an interesting question. What would you personally do at QB in 2025 off-season? And what do you think the Panthers would do?

I would draft almost all defense and get a reasonable vet QB like Flacco or keep Dalton for the cheap. And keep building the team until we've demonstrated that were a playoff ish caliber team and ready to get a QB.

And ideally we'd sit that QB like Packers do.

What I expect. Is Canales will be pressured to get a QB in 2025. Maybe not in R1 but he could easily take one in R2 or R3. Especially if the QBs this year aren't expected to rank highly on draft boards (similar to the Pickett/Corall draft).

He'll probably get his vet qb of his own choosing this off season as well.

What Minnesota is doing is interesting because Darnold is a Free Agent after this year. Either Darnold could come available or they keep him and trade off JJ McCarthy possibly.

I don't think there is any rush on QB minus maybe make another offer to Dalton(at a reasonable price). If there is a high caliber QB available in the draft(seems less likely this class), then take one. If there is a decent gamble at QB in the 4th round or lower, fine, take a swing.

I would much rather keep Dalton than get Darnold. We have seen Darnold look competent with a high caliber offense. That isn't here and I don't think that's a successful path moving forward. Let someone else give him the Matt Cassell/Jimmy G type deal and figure out the truth.

Depends if we can land a serviceable bridge QB. You get one of those and we can try to build an actual roster for a rookie QB to be out in later.

I'm not opposed to a bridge QB, but if there is a rookie QB in the 25' draft we like snap him up of course. The o-line is solid when healthy, and the depth is good as well. It would depend on what the rookie looked like in practice as to if I'd want him to start the 2025 season. If he's looking shaky in practice, then out comes the bridge QB to start the season. No need to traumatize the rookie, but all people are not the same. Some guys can start as a rookie and excel. Just depends on who we land and how they respond to NFL level competition and that's an on the fly kind of thing to decide of course.

this current team has arguably one of the best interior oLines in the NFL & was designed for one specific reason & that was to develop a Qb

so yeah I think  it makes perfect sense to draft a Qb in 2025

...just saying

Somebody (or two) that nobody is expecting will be available this offseason it never fails.

Also Lock and Rudolph would be good veterans to lean on. Not too old and good potential. Especially since Canales is the career reviver for QBs- allegedly.

    • Don't really love any of these dudes  I'd wait until 2026 to draft a qb unless you're just picking up a flyer on one of these guys listed in R5- R7 or something.  Whole team is too talented deprived to be reaching for QBs of questionable ability to translate to the NFL at this point. I'd be pissed drafting any of them in R1. That let's me know either Canales, Morgan, Tepperr, or all 3 of them have not learned their lesson and are desperately grasping for a quick cure all again.  At least not having to trade up for the qb would make it more tolerable. But imo, you use it on a can't miss player. If we have pick 1 2 or 3 , you can basically draft the unanimous #1 offensive or defensive players in the draft at almost any position.  Game breaking WR to grow with Legette and Diontae. Game breaking edge to bring the defense back from the dead!!  Superb corner to pair with Jaycee to make a shut down secondary unit . fug these qbs
    • It was all because of Young. Propping him up with ‘the best’ pass catching RB in the class - for that 12 yard passing zone Bryce owns like no one else.  Every freaking thing they did was ham fisted overkill aimed at eliminating all excuses.  Not advocating or defending it, just trying to reason out the why. There actually is a chance he will be really really good.
    • This 2025 draft is looking pretty decent at edge thus far.
