Another loss but....

Recommended Posts

So we lost another game which is no surprise but for he first time in a long time we were in the game until the interception.

When we were done 22-10 Canales called some great plays and we got back in the game. We held Atlanta to 3 points and it looked like we were heading for a score to get us even.

Almost doesn't mean much but I was happy to see us still in the game well into the 4th quarter.

we fight the whole way through. we got frustrated with some of the results, but we kept fighting. we kept pounding.

we may not be winning, but we're forging an identity that fights to the end regardless of what happens.

one thing that definitely helps is that we've got dalton back there at QB because he's a fighter. you want him in the fight with you and you know that he is going to do everything he can to help you fight and what he can do will can help you win.

bryce, on the other hand....no one takes him seriously. i mean how can you? he's built like a little kid trying to look like a grownup. lift shoes and big hair aren't helping. when he gets worked up, he looks like a little kid getting worked up. when he gets upset, he looks like a little kid pouting. sure, he's  nice and polite kid...but nice and polite kids don't win grown up games.

point is, keep the red rocket in there and then, when appropriate, get another grown up to come and take his place. and if you find a guy that looks like he's a fighter in the draft in a couple years...get him.

for now, though...just fight.

Best thing about the game was that 2 Minute drive before the half. JT Sanders,  Legette, Coker. That gave me some encouragement for the future

That is how you keep the fanbase engaged in a rebuild. I liken it to seeing a high school team with a bunch of sophomores on varsity. They are competing and you know once those pups grow up they are going to be hard to deal with. These dudes are a great foundation, and once you bring in a new QB in a couple of years they will be seasoned. Because of how Andy is playing, they are able to progress, the GM is able to evaluate, and the coach has players that will be years comfortable in his system.

And @rayzor made a point earlier that only a certain kind of fan would know to make. You build a culture even in losing if everyone is fighting together. Those guys know what it is to lose, how they lost games, and what they are lacking. As they grow, you hit on a few picks, bring in a couple of veterans with winning mentalities, and they will be hard to deal with. We have ability to get the cream of the crop in the draft and cap space will be workable. But as long as you're building that culture of constantly fighting, eventually you become a team that can't be broken, the next man up mentality, and the punch you in the mouth kind of team like the 2010-2018 Seahawks or Harbaugh's 49ers.
