We're not far away

Washington is 1 off-season away IMO. Quinn needs a few more defensive pieces and maybe 1 more WR. We (Carolina) need a lot. We do not need any QB in this draft, at least one that is in the first few rounds. Morgan needs to keep a veteran QB as the starter and build the rest of the roster back up. Carolina can't continue to draft QB's and throw them into a mess of a roster.

Watching yesterdays games I'm convinced that we are in a better position than teams like the Jaguars, Cowboys etc that are trying to build around Mid QBs that they've overpaid, and its just a waste of everybody's time. In todays NFL you need a top 8 QB and above average team around them, or a perfect team around a mid QB. The Jags are going to waste another 3 years convinced that Lawrence is a Top QB but he is mid.  Dallas might move on sooner. Our season is a complete success in that we know we have to find another QB next year in the draft. We won't waste any more time, meaning we are by default closer to finding our next franchise QB.

Another thing about yesterdays game, the talent on the offense isn't bad. Johnson looks like he can be a number 1. I've liked Legette thus far, all things considered. This offense with a Plus starter at QB would be at the very least fun to watch again. If the FO spends resources on the defense that unit should be closer to average next year. This division will be ass  as the Bucs get older, the Saints cap finally explodes. The Falcons future hinges on an oft injured unknown prospect at QB. I think we can get a better QB in the 2025 draft. We're one pick away.

injuries on defense have been the big killer for us. that said, i do think that we need to go heavy on defense next year, even with whatever high first round pick we get.

Don't draft a QB next year. keep Dalton, add another vet that Canales can work with.

wait till '26 to get the QB if we're going that route. and get Nico.

Bryce was a minimum 5 year setback, probably longer when you consider the career of Stroud.

The trading up was a huge thing. It was going to set us back whoever we took, but with Bryce it was all just thrown in the trash.

a .500 team would feel great and we probably don't get there next year.

Much has been said about the improvement to our offensive line but it has been to the detriment of the rest of the roster. And even then with one of the most expensive OL's in the league and an offensive minded head coach we can only muster 2 touchdowns and 2 field goals at home against the Falcons who seem like they've had a mostly mediocre to shitty defense for years now.

Anyone giving Morgan or the front office as a whole credit for anything as of right now is a simp. We are not even gum on the bottom of a shoe to the rest of our division. We are a complete joke from top to bottom.

Don't agree. We have a great running game right now. The Online signings were great. No complaints. There was just no way to fix everything in a single off season. But the offense has been functional. They've really only had one bad game since Bryce was sat.  If we had just an average defense we're competing in the division this year.

Washington’s D isn’t a top unit but they are giving up almost 10 points less per game. That’s a gigantic difference. They have not been horrible like us.

If you add Derek Brown, Jordan Fuller, Shaq, a rookie EDGE, and more LB depth via free agency, you could have a MUCH improved defense.

The offense is nearly there.  You can't go back to Darnold who is going to command 30M +.  I'd try to resign Dalton if he is affordable, maybe kick the tires on Minshew who will certainly be released from the Raiders, and draft a QB in rd 2/3 to develop.  (Jackson Dart / Garrett Nussimer / Miller Moss )

If we can draft starter quality DT, EDGE, and back up LB's, we will be all right.  Resign D. Johnson too, 3 year deal with an out after 2.

Man, I feel like the Raiders win gave us way too much hope. Dalton made some of his best career throws in a really nice stretch of a few scoring drives.

We are 0-2 in our division and have lost 47-10 and 38-20 (at home). Our points differential is -100 and that’s with a 14 point win over LV. All 3 of our division mates are + in point differential.

To put that point differential in perspective, no other team is worse than -65. We are 50%+ worse than the Jaguars and Patriots. We are double worse than Cleveland and Las Vegas.

Don’t waste a pick on Dart, Nussmeier or Moss. None of them are likely to ever start. That’s where you get a future C (like Frazier/Humphrey/Ryan Kalil) and DT to sit next to Brown.

I just don't include the games that Bryce Young started. I think that you get a clearer picture of the team if you look at it from a perspective of erasing those two games. It's obvious that the defense is bad, but the offense has greatly improved if you remove the first two games of the season.

All of this.

Derrick Brown is arguably the best player on our entire roster. You lose him, your starting OLB, your starting safety, and your secondary is mostly guys you picked up from the waiver wire after the pre-season cut-downs. This defense has almost no opportunity to be good, because it's incomplete.

We should absolutely bulk it up in the off-season, but to look at our defense on paper and say it's light years away is unfair. We didn't even get the opportunity to see Evero's defense on paper.

But 100%, 1,000% do not chase QB this year. We have so many holes. The last thing we need is our Sixth different starting QB in as many years. It should have been glaringly obvious around QB #3 or 4 that QB was not the issue and we have huge problems all over. And every swing and a miss on QB is another missed opportunity to address a position of need.

Andy is a good-enough QB for a re-building team. And that's exactly what we need right now.

Even with a better defense you can only expect so much. It is an offensive league. That's not changing. When you hire an offensive head coach you need to be able to drop 30-40 points. Us slogging our way to 20 is pathetic.
