How do we feel about Canales

He got the HC role 1-2 years too early, but that is what you have to do when a team is as bad as ours. That said, I like him benching Young, not being afraid playing young guys, some really good playcalling (ups and downs are expected for a young coach).

I think he can become a good one, he seems smart, he’s a strong communicator etc. he just needs some time to settle in and gain experience, as well as updating the roster to fit what he’s looking for.

It’s going to be hard to assess him this year with so many injuries, going to have to give him a couple years to find out. Definitely didn’t like his play calling last week. I think you gotta give the guy a shot. It’s gonna be on the job training though.

He is an offensive coach/QB guru…

I think the D can suck, we lose games we should still be able to judge him.  AT missing games shouldn’t matter at all IMO.

if all that works is Dalton, Dionte and Chubba….we should let Tepper do Tepper things IMO

So far meh. He isn't a bad playcaller and he isn't good. His play designs can be effective and at other times it's a deadend play that should be scrapped. He still comes off to me as a decent OC who would do better with a HC that makes him go agaisnt his usual more often.

As a HC he looks really inexperienced. I loved Byce being sat but I have no confirmation of the actual details. I think hebcould also do better with a better GM vs his friend. He just comes of as a new guy that needs an old hand to know when to say no or change it up to me.

He's not taking the reigns of the whole team. He's got tunnel vision for the offense.

You look at a team like the Texans with Ryans and DeMeco's personality stamp is all over the roster on both sides of the ball.

I do not see anything like that on this Panthers team. In fact in a lot of ways particularly developmentally there is nothing whatsoever that sets this coaching staff apart from any of the others we've shitcanned the last few years.

So far his biggest value to me was he got Bryce benched so we could see something somewhat resembling NFL offensive football. For Tepper it seems like if he can't fix Bryce Young and if he isn't a play calling genius he's a bit expendable. I'd give him another year with his own QB to be fair

Give DC at least 5 years with us

We need stability in the coaching ranks

agree, but that only works if you actually got a solid HC

5 years is also an eternity in todays NFL.  You got to earn those years at the same time

Overall I like what I’m seeing. There’s been some bad playcalling at times, especially last week, but as a HC I like him so far. His willingness to stay aggressive before halves is a refreshing thing to see. Being willing to move on from Young was a huge plus for him too.

    • Please don't I can't take it 🙁
    • I expected the offense to be strong enough to make Bryce dangerous to us by showing enough to start offering some people false hope - and we'd be stuck with him coming back. I was scared of that because I never had any faith in him and wanted clear cut proof so we could move forward - likely without him. Lose and take a new QB, is basically what I was rooting for, I guess.  I thought we'd be able to contain teams better by stopping the run more effectively. I thought it would take a few weeks for everything to reveal because new coach new players new system.  I didn't see the devastating injury wave taking us out by week 5. And I didn't see Brooks sitting being useless after 6 games had gone by.  At the same time I knew this wasn't a one year fix and expected more realism from fans in that regard. They had loaded up the offense and watered down the defense and I did not like that. I resented all the investment in Bryce's training wheels at the expense of team balance.   It's a tough space, I was bitching about the lack of investment in the D all season, while at the same time loving the OL. Thinking they spent too much on the guards... thinking Icky should have been moved inside, and spend that on replacing him at LOT. But overall still coming back to it was never going to be a one year fix and knowing the defense was going to be short. Not THIS short.  But the season was to be all about Young showing what he is, I expected that to be a longer process but am not unhappy that it played out quickly - if they will just leave him where he belongs which is off the field I'll consider it mission accomplished.
    • Yep and as bryce is abysmal, you  wont see  them otherwise  andy made a mistake today but was nit the problem  the happiest player in the league is Young, 9 million a year to do nothing  he looked very content in the sideline we already know what young  is…and hus ceiling as does the rest of the league.
