Is Evero really our issue?

We simply lack talent on the defensive side. We were decent last year with Evero.

When you lose your best defensive player Brown and your best pass rushers Burns/Luvu what else can you expect from Evero?

The greatest DC in NFL history can coach this defense we would still suck because we lack talent on that side of the ball.

I'm just saying, he was supposed to be this guy that could make up for talent with his scheming and it's not happening.

Sam Darnold carved him up when he was Denver's DC in 2022 and then Payton didn't bring him back.

Look at Denver's defense this year and look at ours.

And FYI Derrick Brown was active for the Saints game that allowed 47 points.

Luvu, maybe? but Burns/Chinn aren't hitting on much this year.

So what was all the hype about last year?

From what I remember Evero was viewed as the only bright spot on the season. Again they took away our best defensive players in the off-season. We loss 2 key pass rushers and Brown got hurt after week 1.

Besides Horn what else does he have to work with? Hell I don't even know some of these starters name on defense. I think our issue is bigger than coaching at this point. We just lack talent and it shows on the field. Hell last week the entire defense couldn't seem to tackle. That's not coaching that's guys who lack talent. Make the tackle and wrap up it's not hard.

Well the personnel is definitely a factor, but he was given a lot of "his guys" that he has coached before that are familiar with the scheme.

  • Nick Scott
  • Troy Hill
  • Jordan Fuller
  • Deshawn Williams
  • A'Shawn Robinson
  • Dane Jackson
  • DJ Johnson (it's on video of him celebrating when they drafted him, because HE wanted him)

He somehow got back to back 7 win seasons with Zach Wilson as the best option he had at QB. He's a defensive guy and the defense has been one of the best in the league, this smells like Aaron Rodgers is the team's GM now and he won the power struggle.

Evero isn't doing a good job. There are plenty of other problems but he looks like he is one of them. The whole 'there is so much bad I can't tell if it's him' or 'it's not fair to judge him with the talent levels' reminds me of the same take Young got last year when people were saying he couldn't be evaluated or criticized. Plus he is in his second year which just makes it worse. Only Luvu is playing well elsewhere and the guys he chose look like mostly duds.

Personally I wouldn't mind a DC that uses the 4-3 as a base.  We don't have the guys for any scheme, but we really don't have the pieces for a 3-4.

IDC the base we use so much but the people need to change. As you said, we don't have the personnel to run any sort of effective defense, even at full strength.

He was available this off-season. His time has come and gone. His style of play doesn't work without a great QB and Rodgers at this point is no longer great.

Brady made BB let's just keep it real.

Yeah but the NFL is always slow to realize that type of thing. Look how long guys like Parcells lasted past their prime or even Norv Turner.

Trust me, Jerry Jones would be popping 8 little blue pills to know Bill was looking.

It only takes one.

no one can scheme around players that aren’t NFL caliber. Are you actually David tepper because you sound as stupid as he did talking about Bryce being so good they didn’t need wide receivers.

Sam darnold was 11/19 for 164 yards and 1 passing TD. he rushed for another. That’s not carving up by any means, unless we’re comparing him to Bryce. This was also after Bradly Chubb was traded to Miami, the head coach was fired and the entire team had quit. The broncos had only scored 3 points until five minutes left in the fourth. Like what do you expect a defense to do in that situation?

what comparison do you think you’re making between broncos defense two year after letting evero go and the panthers now? How do you make any parallel connections? Are you using methamphetamines because poo like that is the kind of connections those people come up with.

And what do you mean “maybe” with Luvu? He was the heart and soul of the team. Letting him go was one of the worst personnel management moves in team history. Shades of letting Kevin Greene walk because Richardson didn’t want him wrestling for WCW. Chinn was a capable player. Burns is whatever; him to clowney is probably a lateral move.

And FYI are you blaming Derrick Brown for the saints game? Was it his fault the safety missed his assignment on the first td pass? Was it his fault Bryce completely melted down?

Youre making stupid arguments. I’m not even sure you d watched any games. Stop fuging posting.

I mean....this is objectively the worst talent we have ever fielded as a franchise on that side of the ball. There are maybe two players on that entire unit that are above replacement level. A lot of our starters would be 2nd stringers, at best, elsewhere. Our injury replacements are PS guys.

    • What I really learned here is that the Carolina Panthers aren't anywhere near as bad as I initially thought they were earlier this year.  We've got a young and growing offense with some promising parts. But it still needs some tweaks and improvements.  We really still could still use a dominant #1 WR. But Chubba,  Legette, Coker,  and J.Sanders have generally looked decent. Bryce took a big leap after the benching. We can score enough points to keep pace with 2x defending super bowl champions, so offense isn't a huge issue. Main thing that needs improvement is defense. We sorely need a CB 2, and a number of new players at Dline and LB.  We're not quite as bad at edge with Wonnum showing promise.  But we definitely need 1 or 2 more edges Clowney is old.  Run D is probably worse prevailing theme these past couple years. We really need a good young stud or two to pair with Derrick Brown and another LB to pair up with Trevin Wallace. If Morgan and Canales can focus on rebuilding the defense this off-season and possibly going out and getting a #1 WR. This team could easily be somewhere around 7-10 to 10-7 and flirting with playoffs in 1 or 2 seasons. Overall this game has made me feel alot more positive about the direction of the team.
    • With our picks we need pass rush, lb, Safety, a speedster yac wr, o line depth and I still want a mid round qb. We got 9 picks and 8 in the first 5 rounds. If they pull Off another solid draft we be cooking.
    • We had one passing touchdown against the Giants and one passing touchdown against the Chiefs today. Yes a good backup can replicate that. And that is why Andy Dalton in significantly less games has the same number of 30 point outings as Bryce Young. I am on board with you guys about wanting to be hopeful for the future. Today was a good performance to build on especially at home. But let's please keep things in perspective. BTW the Bucs who honestly aren't even that good blew the doors off the Giants today after we went to overtime against them with 17 points. Again. Perspective.
