Anybody else disgusted with Richardson?

Funny thing: Just saw an item on PFT saying that Sinorice Moss signed his RFA tender with the Giants.

There was a time when people were absolutely gaga about him. They said a Smitty-Sinorice combo would dominate opposing defenses and Moss would make our return game something to be feared. When the panthers didn't get him, there were howls and calls for changes in the braintrust.

Right now, Moss is the Giants fifth receiver, falling behind luminaries like Domenik Hixon and Mario Manningham.

I'm sure there'll be similar reactions when we don't get someone's favorite player this year, but down the road we may find it wasn't such a bad thing after all.

Well since the draft is a "crapshoot", and the most sucessful teams in the league are no better at drafting then the other teams.

Lets just take all college players and put them into a big ass hat. And start pulling names, since there are no rhyme or reason to sucessful players.

Correlation does not mean causation.

before you say that neither did dan snyder of the owner of the browns or lions. jsut saying. :D

JR is better than those guys though, so I wouldn't even compare him to them. He spend money wisely & we usually win. Redskins spends money more & still lose like they never got any good players when they do have some. :P

And I'm not worry about JR. With the lockout will likely happend after next season is over, he is trying to save money wisely to help pay some of our players's new contract (Williams & Kalil for example), players from the Draft, etc. when the lockout is over & football season start again.

Being good at the draft makes it much easier to sustain long-term success. The Steelers ability to backfill via their draftees is what allows them to stay out of the high-priced free agent derby yet still retain a level of success. That's what we're shooting for, and I think it's a smart approach.

a big asshat...

What does Ben Roethlisberger have to do with this discussion? :sosp:

So they have 5 receivers better than our #2 receiver?

Agreed.

Also, I think it creates a good locker room for the most part( excluding the recent retarded moves by Ben and Holmes) , tends to keep out high paid outsiders.

You have to give the FO props for sticking to their guns no matter which side of the debate you are on. They are absolutely not going after any FA this offseason that will cost a lot to the delight or dismay of many here.

I agree. I am very glad the front office is not so spontaneously reactionary.

I think this is the key to long term sustainability.

are you really really hoping someone doesn't go back and look at their drafts, or, like me, have an encyclopedic knowledge of who they drafted?

are you really really hoping I don't call you on this?

do you really want me to dare you to explain what happened to the eagles in 2005, or 2006, or the pats in 2006, or in 2007 after meriweather, or their wheatley-crable-o'connell run in 2008?

f**kING LETS DO IT

wikipedia =/= encyclopedic knowledge

That said, champion this cause. For I am too lazy and agree with what you are about to do a great deal.

Well, I am curious to what you guys believe is the way that the teams stay consistantly good when it comes to replacing players.

If it is not drafting well, and it is not bring in high priced free agents.

Then what is it?

I am not 2 months late. If you read the post you would see I said I had been trying to reserve judgement until we saw how things played out.

And I am not spewing gloom and doom. I have said nothing that isn't factual.

We let Pep walk after spending a gazillion dollars on him last year with no compensation.

We don't have a first round pick and the odds are against picking up significant contributors in rounds 2-7, although it's not impossible. But it is a crap shoot.

We need help at wide receiver. Smith has said it, Hurney said it emphatically in his interview, and said they had a plan. But again, the draft is a crap shoot. Jarrett was supposed to be a stud and although it still could, that hasn't happened yet. So getting a receiver in round 2 or 3 that has immiediate significant impact is again a crap shoot at best.

I have confidence that Johnson and Brown can step up to the plate but you do not lose Peppers and not add anyone and say you got better unless you just have on Pnthers colored glasses no mater what the facts say.

So by this I'm assuming you had a grand free agency plan for the Carolina Panthers? Did you really think that we were going to pursue Brandon Marshall? Sign Aaron Kampman (a glorified Tyler Brayton)? I mean come on we are talking about the Panthers here.

Oh and by sitting around and not saying anything till two weeks before the draft thus guaranteed yourself to be unhappy. If the Panthers were going to go after big name free agents or make trades they would have done it early on, just like they did their cuts.

And for the love of god don't start another Peppers argument on here. He is gone get over it. Great teams can bounce back after losing players like that because they build through the draft. He didn't want to play here anymore. IF the Panthers had gotten a second round pick for him last offseason, we all would have been pissed because we wanted a first. Thus we all took a gamble and it didn't work out for us...

I'm tired of hearing people whine about our lack of activity in free agency. If you don't like Richardson, you don't like the Panthers. Go cheer for the Patriots, Yankees, and Lakers. There now your set.
