Anybody else disgusted with Richardson?

Players wash out for a million different reasons, but there is a reason why the Patriots or the Colts or the Eagles can do well with their draft every year.

are you really really hoping someone doesn't go back and look at their drafts, or, like me, have an encyclopedic knowledge of who they drafted?

are you really really hoping I don't call you on this?

do you really want me to dare you to explain what happened to the eagles in 2005, or 2006, or the pats in 2006, or in 2007 after meriweather, or their wheatley-crable-o'connell run in 2008?

How exactly does a week prior to the draft, prior to June cuts and well before camp roster purges equate to "played out"?

The current roster isn't even close to the final roster.

don't you know that if we haven't made the team better by now we aren't going to? the season is decided in early april. everyone knows that.

Of course its not a given, but its not a crapshoot either.

Thats like saying someone is better at the lottery than others.

Its not a crap shoot if someone is better at it then others.

It is in the sense that nobody - including first round picks - is a lock to succeed. There are factors that no one outside of Dionne Warwick's friends could possibly predict.

Every player is a risk, not just the late round ones.

But it's also not because, indeed, some teams are better at scouting than others. Happily for us, the Don Gregory led Panthers scouting team is far superior to the Tony Softli led Panthers scouting team. That puts us on the right side of the equation.

Yes, there are still unpredictable things, but we've got people who are pretty good at recognizing the positives, the negatives, the good signs and the red flags. Thus, these days, I worry a lot less than I previously did.

Exactly. As I have been saying, it is all about the money. My next question is why are the owners so hell bent on doing everything as if the lockout is a done deal. It is almost like they are bound and determined to make it happen. If not they could surely negotiate a contract with Fox with a lockout contingency. They have supposedly extended Hurney which likely extends through the lockout.

The Fox era is over. JR didn't want to bring in a new coach prior to the lockout and Fox didn't have a better option to go to.....therefore they have agreed to play the 2010 together.

There is nothing for Fox to "prove" this year. He is what he is. There is no extension coming for him. Obviously, JR is ready for a new era and it doesn't make business sense until after the 2010 season and lockout if there is one.

Nearly every year, the media has a collective orgasm over some team's big splashy free agent moves. Someone deems them "destined for greatness".

Aaaaand then the chemistry goes wrong, or something unforeseen complicates things, and they crash and burn. It's becoming like an annual ritual.

Said it before: I don't give a flying rat's ass about exciting offseasons. Smart offseasons are what make for exciting postseasons.

In all honesty, the Pats haven't drafted as well over the past few years. They've also missed on a free agent or two (Adalius Thomas being probably the biggest whiff) and dependence on a lot of aging players has hurt them more than once.

With Scott Pioli now gone, it'd be no surprise to see them get worse at that.

(I always thought they got a little too much credit for Brady anyway; had Drew Bledsoe not flamed out he might never have seen the light of day)

Throw in that Belichick's ego now seems to have told him that he can coach all by himself (no need for silly things like coordinators) and all in all, things in Foxboro could be pretty fun to watch this season.

Ok. I have try to hold off on judging. I have tried to keep a positive outlook. But it is becoming painfully obvious that the owners and lockout and CBA are priority now for Richardson, more so than fielding a playoff contender. We have not been under the radar in free agency , we have been nonexistent. We have watched several decent free agents go to other teams for very reasonable compensation. We have watched the Superbowl Champs from our division remain virtually intact and actually add pieces to their defense. Not to be a negative puke but I don't see anyway we contend next year. It makes it hard to even look forward to the season. And the worst thing is that with all the money JR has saved this year that he is I guess just going to sit on, we could have gotten better.

How does everyone else feel. Has anyone emailed front office or is there anyway to let Richardson know how you feel, not that he gives a shat.

It pisses me off, especially watching the Bobcats swing trade after trade until they got better and are now in playoffs. At least it shows the are trying to win.

I'm disappointed he's tanking the season in hopes of rebuilding (apparently), but really the Panthers were mediocre to bad for a while until they went 1-15, so maybe they need another top draft pick to build around going forward.

That whole notion is beyond ridiculous.

I took your advice and e-mailed the Panthers telling them that both you and i were not satisfied with the way they were handling the present situation.

They have given me full authority to do what is needed to make fans and myself happy campers.

So try to be patient and don't hand me any bullsh!t while i work out a plan.

PS Don't call me about futher concerns because i will try to stay in touch with you and all the Panthers fanbase by use of this forum.

Thanks :)
