Anybody else disgusted with Richardson?

1st off, who really cares what you are tired of. Who died and made you king?

Secondly, your second statement is complete BS. You can dislike or disagree with an owner, coach, Gm, and still be a true fan. The greatest fans around for whatever teams, don't always agree with there owners and coaches.

So all you Richardson nuthuggers who think just becuase he brought us an NFL team he can't make a mistake or make bad decisions, don't come crying if we do go 4-12 or worst next year. I never said I didn't like Richardson, I said I am disgusted with how he has handled our off season thus far. You got a different opinion, well great. Good for you. I appreciate Richardson for bringing NFL to Chlt. For the most part I have always thought he was a great owner. I don't like that he has never and still has zero communication or interaction with fans. I don't like how this off season and the attitude of CBA first and we'll be great after the lock out attitude.

Makes me no less a Panthers fan than you.

Well if my opinion means nothing to you why did you take the time to respond?....This is a ****** forum, EVERYONE gives their opinion. Oh and I'm king for voicing mine. Just cause somewhere disagrees with your incredibly superficial feelings doesn't make them out to be better than anyone else. If you didn't want negative feedback, maybe you shouldn't have started a thread saying your 'disgusted' with Richardson. If it weren't for him there wouldn't be football in North Carolina. So while you have every right to pitch a hissy fit over not signing Brandon Marshall or re-signing Kemo or whatever the hell you want, you have to expect someone to disagree with you. Saying your disgusted with Richardson is saying your disgusted with the Panthers. So my comment still stands if you don't like the conservative style of approach the Panthers take to the NFL then you are in the wrong place.

well, it is an educated guess...that is all any of us can do.

If the John Fox era isn't over then why is he in a lame duck season? I mean, w/ his resume here it only makes sense that he "wasn't fired" b/c it made business sense to JR not to hire a new coach until after the lockout. There is nothing for Fox to prove. Jerry was obviously fine w/ him walking....there just didn't happen to be an opening for him to move onto this year.....therefore it makes sense for both of them to finish out 2010 and cut ties.

It ain't like Fox is going to have a team he can play Fox ball w/ this year and put Jerry in an odd position. The rebuilding and prep for post Fox has already begun.

Lame duck implies it is the last year of his current contract since most coaches in the NFL typically are extended before their final year since it tends to hurt recruiting assistant coaches and resigning players since they don't know who the coach will be. It doesn't mean he will be gone. What you assume is that there will be a lockout while almost all the "smart money" is that an agreement will be reached either before the season or by October at the latest. That means we will play football next year and will need a coach. The signing players on the cheap and not extending folks as well as coaches is in my opinion being orchestrated to show the players that they are serious about a lockout and will go through with it in order to make them accept concessions. It is designed to set the stage for the fight.

This could backfire on us if Fox decides to leave and takes his staff with him. Or Richardson likes saving money so much he decides not to extend a lot of the veteran core since a bunch of signings will definitely hurt us if there is a cap in place next year. All the guarateed money if paid this year wouldn't count under a cap whereas next year it will. Plus all the guaranteed money has to paid out when the contract is finalized although it is apportioned to the cap over the life of the contract. In fact Hurney hasn't signed his extension and could be headed out if Fox goes as well. There is no guarantee that we get a Cowher or other top notch guy or that the staff will be superior to who we have. The assumption is that Fox and Hurney could be easily replaced with someone better. I am not at all sure I would agree.

How anyone can think Richardson doesn't want to win. Is beyond me.

If ya don.t understand why our off season is going like it is...then just admit it - don't attempt to throw richardson under the bus just cause you don't agree with what is going on.

Richardson does give a damn about winng...I know for a fact he wants to see his team win a superbowl before he dies. So stop all the bullshit about him not wanting to win. The front office does have a plan. They don't need to share that plan with the world.

honestly if I wanted to troll this place into the ground I'd point out that Richardson was so pissed about a raise he didn't get from the Colts after the Super Bowl he retired in the prime of his career to open a fast food chain.

So it's pretty clear that when the chips are down, Richardson will even give up the game he supposedly loves for the almighty dollar, to say nothing about blowing money to win a game he cared so much about he bailed on.

Let's say after this past season Jerry wanted to fire Fox.....would it have made sense to bring in a new coach w/ a possible lockout coming?? No. Were there great options? No. Everything has worked perfectly for Jerry, Fox not having a gig to try and land this year....really worked out perfectly.

Backfire on us? Fox leave? Did you not watch last season? I don't blame Jake for another disappointing season. I blame Fox. Fox stuck with Jake costing us the season. Even when Jake was in, Fox cost us games by not sticking w/ the run and opting to pointless air it out. There is no reason to keep Fox. He isn't consistant. Too much talent on this team for what Fox allowed to occur last year.

I think Richardson wants to win. We discussed that in the tanking the season thread ad nauseum. That is not the debate. The debate is whether winning or not winning is fueling the current moves or not. I would say so far it is not. The issue about the potential lockout and saving money are trumping his desire to win at this point IMO. It doesn't mean he doesn't want to win but I don't see that he is "all in" like before. If you want to see a franchise on a "all in approach" look to the Bears or Jets at this point. We will see if it works for them or not. Our approach IMO is we want to win as long as it fits in the budget and doesn't commit us to big long-term contracts. Other than Smith and Gross, Wharton and Gamble- who has a big long term contract on our team right now? That's right nobody.

Absolutely it would because there isn't going to be an extended lockout. Everyone is posturing but they all agree that a lockout would kill the golden goose and nobody wants that. So keeping Fox on to save 5 million out of a total payroll of players coaches and staff of 150 million doesn't make much sense if you are just going to dump him unless the money is the whole issue. If you were rebuilding and going young and had no desire to keep Fox they should have moved on last year.

As for Fox leaving or staying, that is worthy of its own thread, more likely 20 or 30 of them as the season unfolds. So I won't debate last year or say much about it until I see what we put on the field this year. And if you listen to people on this board we didn't have that much talent last year and most everyone was average at best and easily replaced. So we finished where we should- average right in the middle.:D

I love the philosophy of the Panthers FO as far as load your roster through the draft and fill holes through FA.. I wish that since we can't seem to draft WRs, that we followed our philosophy and brought one in that was a true #1 to take pressure off Smitty.. in a few years, we won't have 2 - 3 extra years to develop a rookie. we'll see if we can nab a receiver in the draft before that happens.

I doubt Richardson is tanking the season... I just wish Hurney found smart solutions to do what Parcells was able to do..

I think contracts and player skills ended/diminished just in time to give a little extra push before a possible lock out..

You talk out of both sides of your mouth. You say hey this is a forum, its my opinion. Well that's what I thought too when I initially posted was this is a forum, some will agree, some will disagree, but this is my opinion. So as long as people start threads only about stuff you like and you agree with its cool. But the minute they post something you disagree with they are a dumb ass and you are only stating your opinion.

well, statistically we had a top 3 run game and a top 10 defense.....pretty sure that is suppose to automatically put Fox in the playoffs if he plays Fox ball. Yet, he managed to screw that up. Again, Fox sticking w/ Jake and/or his manangment of Jake easily cost them the playoffs in 2009.

well, we don't agree often, but as far as how most people view last year's talent vs. now.....we seem to see more eye to eye on that than most topics.

Personally, I think last year we probably saw a defense that had Peppers OVERALL put in one of his best seasons of his career. We could of kept everyone on D....that one loss drastically effects every player almost on D. Sure he didn't bring it every down....that is a different arguement.

but winning is the #1 priority to the owner...............
