Shaq going down sucks b/c he was playing really well, but I'm 100% onboard with letting Wallace start going forward.

The goal for the defense should be to try to improve & compete in spite of the injuries, but also with an eye towards next season.

I'm hopeful Canales can do much of what John Fox did in his 1st 2 seasons, but in reverse.

2002: Drafted Julius Peppers, rebuilt the defense

2003: Signed Jake Delhomme & Stephen Davis to complete the rebuild of the offense

Not saying we're going to be in the SB next year, but I think with how well the offensive rebuild has went, we should be in playoff contention next season if we're able to make the necessary improvements on defense through the draft & FA

I was just realizing a similarity between Canales and Fox. They both came in resetting the standards for player expectations and telling them about it so they can get to work.

I was at On3’s Elite series event recently where the top recruits in the country come to speak with media. His brother was there as a recruit, along with his folks. Though everyone there was wearing hats and shirts to their college commitment, his dad was decked out in all panthers gear. I got to talk to him for a while, and it was really cool. Great family and they’ve already got a lot of love for the Panthers.

It was obvious that he was exhausted. It really does take a few games to get into "game shape." Practice doesn't get you there if you're an every down starter.

It is also being thrown into the fire and having everything elevated in the moment. He went from back up spot snaps to Shaq, Josey going down and then he's thrown out there with task of leading the defense against the Bengals.

I firmly believe though that the reason we are getting such crap football across the league is because these players are out of shape due to reduced practice time during training camp. Two a days are necessary and yeah it sucks players union, but it is a right of passage and they are being paid well. It has hindered rookie development, OL development, and offensive cohesion across the league.

And hopefully Brooks can help get back to the RB legacy. RBs and LBs have always been this team's calling cards.

i like the idea of Brooks and Chuba. i can't wait to see them both in action.

I agree have been saying the same stuff. They're coddled and not driven to get them tough and in shape.

I actually think some of the soft tissue injuries could be linked to ramping it up too quickly.

Great points all around. Probably another contributing factor to why so many rookie QBs are failing early and turning the corner down the road. Usually on another team.

They have very different running styles. I hope Brooks can become a homerun back. It's sorely needed.

yep, kind of like Dwill and Stewart. both brought something different. whatever worked killed opposing defenses. eventually both would.
