Dalton Mic'd Up

Rehabbing the retread label.

I wanted another retread instead of all that over paying to draft one.

With a view that this is what we could get.

Now, maybe without having to watch Bryce play this wouldn't look so great. But we did and it does.

Yeah Andy is a good leader and his QB play is acceptable. He can finish his career here, but this defense is yeeeeeessshhhh. Happy for Andy. He's doing all he can with what he has available. We just don't have the roster.

Wild after all the BS since Cam got injured Andy is the best QB play we've had in like 6 years for i think $5M a year? All that capital wasted just to find ourselves here lol.

Yeah if I had to rate the post Cam era:

Dalton

Bridgewater

Mayfield

Darnold

Cooked Cam

Young

Just a crazy time of spinning our wheels and accomplishing nothing, and then last ass backwards into the Red Rifle.

I'd throw Kyle Allen in there over Bryce as well lol.

Hopefully Dalton can be our starter for the rest of this year and into next.

You can definitely see the vision from Dan Morgan.  He did what he set out to do- give the QB something to work with.  Obviously, they thought (and hoped) it would be for Bryce, but regardless with Andy Dalton we are able to see the vision.

He couldn't have done better than signing Robert Hunt & Damien Lewis.  We were all skeptical about moving Corbett to center, but that has worked out great, also.

Robert Hunt is as impressive an interior Olineman as I have ever seen.  He really is a bad, bad MF.

Chuba has developed into a borderline top-10 back.  A true 3-down back.  I never expected that of him as a rookie... he deserves a lot of props for his hard work to develop himself, especially his pass catching.

Diontae Johnson looks like a WR1 in this scheme, and him & XL looked like the most legit WR duo we had since DJ Moore & Robby Whatever in 2020.

At this point, we already have the sunk cost of BY9.  Even if he sits this year and next, he will still only be in his 4th year in 2026.  It's not ideal, but it's also not the albatross for this franchise it appeared to be a few weeks ago.

Our offense is legit, and that hasn't been the case since TJ Watt wrecked Cam's shoulder in 2018.

This rebuild looks so, so much better than it did 2 weeks ago.

The defense (especially with injuries) is unfixable to a certain extent this year.  We're probably going to have to win shoot-outs if we are going to win.

Regardless, another offseason and getting Derrick Brown back should put us in a legit position to compete next year.

At this point, I'll take that.  I am sold on Canales as a coach, and I feel more optimistic as a Panthers fan now than I have since before Cam left.

Canales is scheming guys wide-ass open left & right... I can't remember the last time a Panthers OC was doing that honestly.

And Evero will be fine, too, once he gets some horses back on the Dline.

For all Tepper has gotten wrong over the past 7 years, hiring Canales and keeping Dan Morgan as GM is showing signs of being a good plan to get us back to relevancy.

    • What I really learned here is that the Carolina Panthers aren't anywhere near as bad as I initially thought they were earlier this year.  We've got a young and growing offense with some promising parts. But it still needs some tweaks and improvements.  We really still could still use a dominant #1 WR. But Chubba,  Legette, Coker,  and J.Sanders have generally looked decent. Bryce took a big leap after the benching. We can score enough points to keep pace with 2x defending super bowl champions, so offense isn't a huge issue. Main thing that needs improvement is defense. We sorely need a CB 2, and a number of new players at Dline and LB.  We're not quite as bad at edge with Wonnum showing promise.  But we definitely need 1 or 2 more edges Clowney is old.  Run D is probably worse prevailing theme these past couple years. We really need a good young stud or two to pair with Derrick Brown and another LB to pair up with Trevin Wallace. If Morgan and Canales can focus on rebuilding the defense this off-season and possibly going out and getting a #1 WR. This team could easily be somewhere around 7-10 to 10-7 and flirting with playoffs in 1 or 2 seasons. Overall this game has made me feel alot more positive about the direction of the team.
    • With our picks we need pass rush, lb, Safety, a speedster yac wr, o line depth and I still want a mid round qb. We got 9 picks and 8 in the first 5 rounds. If they pull Off another solid draft we be cooking.
    • We had one passing touchdown against the Giants and one passing touchdown against the Chiefs today. Yes a good backup can replicate that. And that is why Andy Dalton in significantly less games has the same number of 30 point outings as Bryce Young. I am on board with you guys about wanting to be hopeful for the future. Today was a good performance to build on especially at home. But let's please keep things in perspective. BTW the Bucs who honestly aren't even that good blew the doors off the Giants today after we went to overtime against them with 17 points. Again. Perspective.
