Albert Breer: Panthers WR’s possibilities for Chiefs

If he is not going to sign then he is not going to sign and you have to deal him for whatever you can get.  That would be very panthery to simply let him walk without any draft capital

How do you know he is not going to sign? How do we know he doesn't become interested in the team long term if he is here the entire season? How can the franchise sell themselves to him if they ship him away for some random any round pick? The fact is, none of us know the real story here because none of us talk to him to know what the chances are of him having interest long term in signing here. But I suppose if we are told one thing then last minute he does another and takes off at seasons end it will be all Morgan's fault of course Even if he did his due diligence and had the conversations that need to be had and makes a decision based upon those.

Everyone has their own GM take on the matter and it appears many here will just trade him for anything they can get and assume he is taking off the second free agency starts.  I'm simply of the mindset that we don't know poo here and only Morgan and company has any idea what's said in conversations regarding if he has any interest in remaining here or not. If it were me since we aren't going to get anything even remotely worth what he is to use, I would take the chance and keep him the whole season to give him a chance to gel with the QB and offense and enjoy being the number 1 option which may help him view this place as home and the best spot for his immediate future.

Again, keep him and see if we can become his new home and show him what his new home would be like with him as the number one option here. We could get a few more good years out of him I'm sure.

Yeah a 4th round pick isn’t worth it most of the time. Here’s our 4th round picks since 05:

Stefan LeFors

Nate Salley

Ryne Robinson

Mike Goodson

Tony Fianmetta

Eric Norwood

 Brandon Hogan

Frank Alexander

Joe Adams

Edmund Kugbila

Tre Boston

Daryl Williams

Ian Thomas (lol)

Marquis Haynes

Christian Miller

Troy Pride

Chuba Hubbard

Brandon Smith

Chandler Zavala

JT Sanders

That’s 20 picks. Of those 20, right now Boston, Haynes and Chuba have proven to be valuable players relative to the draft position. The jury is still out on Zavala and Sanders. The other 15 were largely useless, either complete busts or marginal role players. Given those odds I’m not trading our best receiver for a 4th. If that’s the offer he stays the rest of the year and we try to do a deal in the offseason. Id consider a 3rd but if a contender loses a key receiver the price could go up.

So if it’s known he isn’t staying you’d rather lose him for nothing than gain a 4th?

Not quite sure what losing him for nothing gains us

Shefter said that yesterday, that he wasn’t going to sign with us after this season. Morgan should be talking to him and seeing if an extension is off the table. If it is, trade him for whatever you can get.

This is why:

I see. If his agent is upfront that he has no intention to stay, then obviously moving him at some point becomes important. I think at this point in the season, a 4th rounder for him is really bad value all things considered, but if it's all we have closer to the trade deadline, makes sense to get something for him.

I also wouldn't be surprised if those comments are based on two weeks of Bryce Young.  Curious to see how he feels as the season goes on.

Okay. Who wouldn't want out after a camp with Young and those first two games?

Not saying he has changed his mind but it wouldn't be the first time these 'insiders' based their pontifications on outdated info.

Two weeks ago the Panthers OL and WRs and Canales were the reasons Bryce Young was struggling, we knew they hadn't even looked at us.

Of course you ask him man to man and if he doesn't want to stay ask where he wants to go.

Adam sure.

If they want Johnson they better be giving up that 1st Rd pick. The moment we trade Johnson to KC he's gonna be a all pro playing with Mahomes. We don't need that happening.

That may be a tough ask considering that the Raiders want a second and other compensation for Adams.

Diontae Johnson unfazed by trade rumors, prefers to stay with Panthers

“I can't control some of the stuff they put out there,” Johnson said. “I can only just come in and here and continue to be the player I have been since I got here in April. I'm not really worried about it. Whatever happens, happens. I'm locked in with the Panthers right now.”

I mean, I’m sure he would prefer to play for KC.   You just can’t say it.
