Do we attempt to extend Diontae this season?

Yes. Anytime the team knows they can't or shouldn't resign a guy that's what they should be doing. That was moving Burns when 'the offer' came in. Jackson was a good move too. Letting guys walk for nothing or trading them with less value so you can squeeze one more meaningless year of play out of them is the bad choice. Jackson was traded for that reason and it was a good call.

What did we get for Burns/Moore/Cmac?

We got nothing because they don't know how to draft good talent!

We wanted Burns gone yet we got nobody to replace what he brings which was QB pressure. The Dline is a joke!

Tepper would be better off hiring me as GM. I would have this franchise headed in the right direction under 2 years.

and for those thinking you can get a 1st for Dionate Johnson....I would like to sell my beanie baby for a 1 million dollars.  Maybe you can help me find someone for that too.  You must got some good connections.

I'm leaning towards sending DJ and AT to the highest bidder if (when) we only have a couple wins at the trade deadline.  Get Coker some more playing time and David Moore can be our vet.  The name of the game this year is to develop our young pieces (XL, Mingo, JT, Brooks, Wallace etc).

they can figure it out I would think

That 41 million space number is fake news. Corbett, shaq, dalton, and others are voided. In short take away around 10 million, *but sanders and couple other may save a couple million. If they signed johnson along with the rookie class, there maybe 2-5 million leftd to "build" this team. But they could do one of the old school tricks about pushing the cap into future years. Its possible, but tricky.

Finally I doubt Johnson will sign here given the QB is a unknown with dalton being a FA. Hes going to want that answer and if panthers come back with "Well we plan on drafting one" .....hes gone. Dalton could be in for a pay increase too.

Its a god dam shame to have no cap space and no talent.......AWFUL!!!

He broke 1000 yards once in his career.  Sure he looks good in comparison to Mingo and our rookie XL.  I do think that DC's offense is pretty WR friendly.  I just know he is going to want to be paid a lot.  I'm not against it but we have a lot of holes to fill....

I mean you can easily argue he was with Pickett and rudolph for a chunk of that.  I dont think he is a true #1 in the nfl sense but he is easily ours and is allowing us to run an offense so to me he is a #1 wr.

For sure he's been open damn near every game.

The drops were a issue in Pitt we all knew this. Yesterday proved his hands can be questionable, but he has shown he's elite at getting open. I'm not concerned about the drops he will make more catches as the season goes.

What's clear is this offense doesn't work without Johnson. Darnold targeted him a lot for a reason.

I mean, everyone was open on that Bengal DB

Steelers tried to give this dude way to the entire league.....and couldn't.   One good game and you are declaring him a #1 caliber WR we should be locking up (and overpaying in reality).   He isn't a 1.  He is a 2.  A 2 trying to salvage his rep and earn a decent contract somewhere else.

What we do...is mismanage out roster.  Which is what paying him would be.  This is like when people tried to manifest Robbie Anderson into a #1 and better than DJ Moore.....and our dumb franchise did overpay for a roleplayer that was always what he had shown to be.  He just happened to have a random couple good games.  Which all players do.

The 2025 wouldn't be just XL/Mingo.  You rep them heavy to find out what they should be in that 2025 corp.  Then you go out and find some budget complimentary pieces.   Which had have been doing.  Johnson is an example of one.   You keep doing that to add to the young talent you are building up.

Why is he getting open so easily?

This dude would probably be too 10 in yards if he didn't have that bum Bryce throwing him the ball for 2 weeks. It's crazy how many times Bryce missed him wide open down the field.

He is most definitely a #1 caliber WR. As for his value he was a hothead he was never going to get a ton of calls with that reputation.

So you want to pay him #1 WR money knowing he isn't one because he is getting open in an offense that is known to get WRs open?  You are willing to lock in $30 million a year on him?

    • I think it will be hard to not go edge in the second if we go QB first. Say you have Starks, one of Bond/Egbuka, and maybe one Edge (don't have a name to throw out that is end of 1st round projected and may slide)... do you still go Starks? Just curious. I haven't looked into starks much, as I've been focused on QB, WR, and DL prospects.
