So why is Ejiro so awesome?

Just saying, our d is trash.  Always so much hype around this guy as a coach, but I'm not seeing it.  He's never criticized, but he should be.  It just seems like the d isn't prepared.  I know there is a talent gap, but tackling and effort is a different story.  I'm not saying he is a bad coach, and he's well spoken...but I haven't seen results that scream that he is a great coach.

He's good at making a defense without talent average.  That said he's pretty vanilla and not very aggressive or creative.  There are some coordinations that can scheme up pressures and he's definitely not that.

Gotta be realistic the overall talent on defense is not good especially without Brown.  Cant be good with below average players

You gave him a no name defense and expected him to make something out of nothing.

 

Draft Sanders and draft all defense. That's my only suggestion at the moment. Offense has some ballers.

Defense was horrible last year really.  Brian Burns only had 8 sacks with a healthy Derrick Brown.  He didn't know how to utilize Jeremy Chinn either.

Evero is just okay. Not great, not awful. Basically a JAG DC. Our pass rush sucks and so does our tackling today. I honestly don't think there's much he can do schematically to fix either.

We spent 150 million dollars on the offensive line in free agency and traded up for both of our first 2 picks to use on offense.

I'm not happy about the defense either but we need to score damn points.

A team with bad tackling is usually definitely a sign of coaching.

My expectations aren’t really that high. You hope to see an upward trend and significant success from Canales in year 3-4. The Bryce trade was a disaster. It’s going to take some time.

I said it in the game thread. The defense was sacrificed this year to go strong on offense.

We don't have the talent on defense to be a legitimate contender.
