I'm in the mountains near Asheville NC and we are supposed to get heavy rain on top of the rain we've gotten in the last 24 hours. The storm hasn't even started here yet and there is already flooding everywhere.

South buncombe here, we're up on a hill and not near any river, I'm just hoping none of the large oaks near us decide to come down

Totally expecting power to be out for a while tomorrow

There's no way this will be worse than 1916. That was two back to back hurricanes within a week. The second one dropped upwards of 20" in a 24 hour period on already completely saturated land and swollen streams. That's the one that wiped out the town of Mortimer on Wilson Creek. Wilson Creek crested at 94 feet through the gorge. This will probably be the worst flooding in the last 20 years or so though. It ain't nothing to sneeze.

Katrina was the worst we saw outside of Linville in 2004. Roads washed away and Boone was under water.

Yep all your typical areas are flooded before it even gets here, Amboy road, Biltmore village, probably the lower parts of the river arts district. A lot of business in those areas are going to get ruined

Saw a post on Facebook there's been several shelters opened up, including one in West Asheville if you need it

We bought our house about three and a half years ago and honestly based on our small creek, I'm not even sure this ranks as a top 5 flooding even in that timeframe for my tiny little 12 acre microcosm. You know it's a good one when the creek is pumping so hard into the pond that it causes the entire half acre pond to whirlpool. That hasn't happened yet with this storm.

I'm glad Asheville is on the other side of the divide. That way all the trash and needles  that get washed downstream won't end up here. I'm joking but not really. LOL

I visit Asheville once a year and the needles are definitely a real thing.
