Hurricane Helene

Obviously the Florida gulf coast is going to take the brunt if it but here in Panthersdom this is looking like a potential biblical flooding event for southern Appalachia. We had a big line of heavy thunderstorms come through last night and a lot of streams were already at flood levels, now a drenching hurricane behind that. They're saying Lake James will hit it's highest point ever. They're expecting it 10' over the spillway. It's already spilling over.

Cat 4 hurricane sir this is a life ending event!

Even cat 1 can be a threat for you life.

Last forecast I saw was cat 3 and while that is fug-all dangerous my comment was more targeted at the apocalyptic language.

Yes its bad

No its not going to obliterate the panhandle

You said life ending now apocalyptic.

People lose their life in hurricanes. You always take hurricanes seriously no matter the size.

Wind can easily knock down a tree and land on someone's house. Flooding can cause loss of life. Tornadoes form from these massive hurricane outer bands. Multiple things can happen from a hurricane that cause a threat to your life.

I dont take hurricanes lightly and have had some pretty big rows with folk who minimize them.

This is going to be brutal on the Fla coast.

Im exhausted by the weather people in the triad trying to scare everyone into believing this is going to be anything more than a bad storm.

And I didnt say apocalyptic. Ed Mathews did

Brunswick County is still recovering from what weather people called a one in a thousand year storm/rain event last week.  Over 12 inches of rain in less than 12 hours.  Southport is still basically cut off except for one road.
Carolina Beach is reported to have had 18 inches of rain in 12 hours.

Don't ever try to drive over a flooded road like this guy did.  You have no idea if there is still a road under the water.  1st pic shows after the truck was pulled out of the washout.  Whoever drove into it was lucky to survive.
