So who is our QB next year?

So now that we know Bryce isn't the answer and was actually the problem, what do we do about the Qb position next year? Andy Dalton is not going to play for another 10 years and his contract actually expires after this year. What if Dalton plays well enough that we miss out on a top 10 draft selection for a QB this year? Despite today's feel good victory, we still have legitimate questions at the QB position.

The Vikings are going to have to pay Darnold to keep him and they won’t do that considering they have McCarthy.

I say that you spend your draft resources on defense and sign Darnold to a deal similar to what Baker got in Tampa, if Darnold will come back. Darnold can play as well as he’s playing right now with Canales as Head Coach and if we lock up Hubbard and Johnson.

That’s what I want, anyway. I don’t expect it to happen but I wanted to retain Darnold after 2022 and we didn’t. I wanted to run back that whole staff for 2023 actually, along with picking up some Free Agent guards and maybe a receiver to play opposite Moore but, alas, that didn’t happen.

So I say run it back with Darnold on a team friendly deal that is similar to Mayfield, retain Johnson and Hubbard, and see if we can’t get a few defensive studs. I’m excited to see what Canales could do.

And before you flame me, realize that Darnold is still quite young.

Crazy to think andy d is a good to average qb and the offense looked that good.  So bryce isnt just bad he is straight garbage

That’s sort of the point. Bryce was so bad that the Panthers looking competent was so shocking to most people. The thing that gets me is the national media paraded the idea around that the Panthers lacked talent around Bryce. Well, guys, that was dispelled today.

If things continue to go fairly well(there will not be many repeats of today), we should try and keep Dalton.

Obviously that will have a cost associated with it.

I agree and this is totally on point.

Doubt the performance we saw today will be the weekly norm but we do know he is capable which is a 180 degree change from what we are familiar with.

I wouldnt say so matter of factly Bryce gets another shot. I dont expect Dalton to throw for 300 yards and 3 TDs each game, but if hes playing remotely solid, theres no chance you can bring Bryce in at this point.

I suspect Dalton will get dinged up eventually and Bryce will play again. I don't expect the results for Bryce to improve much. He needs a lot of time on the pine getting his head straight.

I don't expect excellence, I expect competence. With competence, I can buy into a future for us. I can see that there is a chance.

If a blue chip defensive player is available...I think you go that route. If not, I'm not opposed to drafting a QB who can sit and learn. I actually like it a lot unless you want to draft another receiver but i dont want to do that early. We aren't gonna be bad enough to get golden boy manning in 26. Sorry people.
