Alex Smith "You can't pay me enough money to play for the Carolina Panthers".

That’s fair and true.  anyone who came recently came for a paycheck or a spot on a depth chart they couldn’t get anywhere else.

Plans change. If the offseason looks moderately competent with Dalton, I suspect the change will be permanent(barring injury). Otherwise Canales may lose the locker room. If that happens, the hole we are in becomes even deeper.

He was the starter on Sunday night and benched on Monday. They can't trade him or do anything until they see everything without him. With the known tendencies and criticisms out there just saying he is a bust isn't good enough even if the tape doesn't lie.

I can't image the locker room would be cool with more of him at his first 2 games.

Yeah, the comments from teammates were pretty telling. I don't doubt that most of them have empathy but it's a business and they can shine or develop in their careers with him playing this way.

I've been telling folks for a couple of years now that our wish lists start where everyone else's end. All else being equal, candidates are choosing a location other than Carolina whether we're talking players, coaches, front office people, scouts, whatever. The only way we get people is by offering them higher positions and/or significantly more money than anyone else is.

He get traded for peanuts and start playing like an all pro elsewhere

And honestly, I'm cool with that. We need to move on and he deserves a second chance at a career.

What we spent for him (and will continue to spend for him with that 2nd rounder this season) is a done thing. Sunk costs and all that.

That’s funny. Considering we aren’t offering him any. ESPN is really complete style over substance anymore.
About the only time they weren’t was the old NFL Matchup show that they wouldn’t even air u til three in the morning. I used to stay up for it. Kept late hours anyway.

I used to love it when it came on at a decent hour. The one show that did honest breakdowns.

It crossed the line of acceptability. They still acted like Pros but they have their careers to protect too. It's wild how far all of that has gotten out of hand and yet there is still pressure to prove Bryce wasn't cratering out there.

The Pathers are a trainwreck and the media gets a buffet of entertaining material to laugh about. None of thr people saying Bryce is fine has watched those 2 games.

If they showed film I promise they would pick the play in game one where he fuged the protection moving the RB away, they would claim it is the OL.

As is always the case with dumpster fire franchises. We have successfully demolished every ounce of culture we had under Richardson.

The culture now is getting paid because that is all we offer.

Yup. They won't show their draft predictions and then Young not throwing the ball away with people open he can't hit while a defender helps him relearn why he peaked in school though.

Sadly nobody cares about honest breakdowns anymore. It's all about hot takes and who's the most entertaining personality.

Which is why I always say I miss the days before social media. Everyone is the same these days. Just look at the sports podcasts world. Everyone has a voice now.

Almost all news of all varieties has moved to hot takes and disinformation. But, in this case, it's we the people that are 100% at fault. Instead of shunning this crap, people tuned in and ratings/revenue rose. They figured out the more upset people got, the more they watched. I am lucky enough that I saw through this crap early on and never consumed this type of horseshit.
