Patriots fans thought the dynasty would continue after Tom lol

As soon as Brady was no longer there and aging vets weren't willing to sign at a discount to ring chase the years of bad drafting got exposed. Belichick is a helluva coach but he's Tepper era Panthers level trash as a GM.

I really want to mock the drafting of Mac Jones in the 1st here but after Bryce Young at #1 via massive trade up I don't know if I'll ever be able to mock an awful drafting of a QB in good conscience ever again.

Maye is already better than Brissett but they paid Brissett to mentor and take these hits. Keep playing him until you get that OL somewhat sorted out

Lol Brissett is not a crash dummy. He's not gonna last a full season. Maye will be forced to play because that Oline is not protecting any QB.

Mac jones made sense for them at the time.  They didn’t make a big move to get him so it didn’t hurt that bad.  They just can’t draft at all.  The whole team is a bunch of nobodies.

Mac Jones was basically a bigger version of Bryce. Other than stature, all the same weaknesses. I was creaming the dude was a mid-round backup.

We would have been a lot better off taking Mac instead of Bryce.  A lot less cost to find out you wasted your pick

You get the sense that the Pats are going to run the most boring offense in the NFL no matter who is at QB.

I do wonder, though, if taking the old school approach to QB development (sitting them early, playing them year 2 at the earliest) might actually be the way to go. I'm not sure there's any real evidence that the results were significantly better during that era than they are today, but if you're not a good team and don't have much hope to make the playoffs maybe it's better to be safe than sorry?

well, if you put in stock into Tom Brady's opinions.  He said the young QBs shouldn't be playing.  He said they are setup to lose.  They don't have time to learn how to play QB in the NFL.  So what teams do is they dumb down literally everything for the young QBs and throw them into the fire.  Which for a Bryce is REALLY going to hurt.....because he doesn't even have average physical tools, let alone doesn't have break glass emergency skills to overcome anything.  Brady implied even ones playing well aren't really playing QB at a high level.

We need a statistician expert to do analysis on rookie QBs that sat for at least 1 year and had relative success during their NFL careers. Of course barring any injury that shortened their career. It would determine if sitting and learning is beneficial to long term success.

more factors though, for example, at one point below a rookie QB was drafted and sat for a year before playing.   Now maybe you can figure out when in the timeline he sat and when he started.  But team and situation is going to heavily factor in the outcome.
