Bryce Young benched

I mean DC and Morgan have created a nice OL for him that is creating a nice pocket.  He has WRs running open and we are left with an unwatchable performance.  It wasn't just missing a couple throws, it looked like he is unable to play within the structure of a typical offense.  You can't fix that whether people believe DC is a QB whisperer or not.  I think he looked over the film and saw the locker room's reaction and knew there is no need to trying to continue to force this.  Maybe Bryce can win them back over (I doubt it) and get another chance, or maybe Dalton gets hurt and Bryce gets a shot for redemption, but I think this story is over and the staff knows it.

It drives me crazy seeing what seems to be the most common take on his benching from media/social media/former players...that this is ALL on the Panthers and nothing to do with Bryce Young's actual lack of capabilities as a NFL level starting QB. Have yall really watched this guy play...a lot? I keep seeing the same old "he has no o-line protection and no wide receivers ever getting open..it's not Bryce's fault", etc.

It will get retconned after he flops on his 2nd team next year.

The amount of times I've seen comments saying something along the lines of "Their OL is terrible and his WRs can't get open" is insane. Just tells me they're just parroting a narrative from last year and haven't watched these last two games.

Yep..just like any other subject...the majority of people just regurgitate whatever they read from the next person.

I'm honestly curious on why there were so many people here picking BY over CJ last year. Looking at the tape from college the arm strength looks the same as it does now, the athletic ability looks the same, the accuracy etc. Him having to line up 7 yards off the OL to be able to see.

We need Dalton to come in and throw for 300 yards and two touchdowns in each of the next couple of games. Doesn't matter if we lose or get whooped, just having a functioning passing game will be enough to show how much Bryce has sucked.

I've been gorging myself on the Bryce Young benching in the ole Youtubez, and a couple very common complaints emerge from the talking heads/ex players/people with opinions:

1. Organizational chaos.  Well, they aren't wrong there.  We're kind of a dumpster fire until we're not.

2. Lack of Supporting Cast.  For sure, last year we were absolute garbage.  This year...less garbage, maybe in a few days depending on spoilage...  We're better than we were on offense than last year.

3. Lack of Time.  I know, 18 games is not enough time.  Especially given all the other circumstances last off season.  But the tape don't lie.  I've seen a few really good plays by Bryce that made me go "Oh yeah!  That's why he was number 1" last season.  I haven't this year.

They had to bench Bryce.  After the last game, him as the presser was just sad.  He looked like someone who just got rescued from being kidnapped.  Maybe that's the case...?  Bryce needs to get his confidence back.  How does that happen?  No clue.

I wouldn't be surprised if Bryce gets traded, but I kind of hope he doesn't.  I am rooting for the underdog story.  I'd love the made for TV moment of Bryce coming back in a few weeks to lead the team to victory, having come through adversity...  Look, less me have my hopes and dreams!  =P

End of the day is that Canales has an old roster that needs to win, or at least have a chance to win.  Andy can give us the best chance at that.

Bryce doesn't have the tools to be a legit NFL starting QB

But the Panthers did in fact create a nightmare scenario for him

Two things can be true.  And the second one is in fact true.  Everyone knows how you ruin a QB.....Panthers did that and then some.

It's not about defending Bryce.  That doesn't need to be done.  Letting the Panthers off the hook for what a bad org they are is dumb though.

Last year was a bad scenario.

This year, he actually had a pretty decent set up, probably as good as Stroud had last year.  Good Oline play, a decent veteran group of receivers, and a running game that has had some success, albeit in extremely limited play.

And before anyone says he got Carred, if he didn't have the mental toughness to work thru the issues last year, the odds of him being a successful NFL qb were slim and none.

ESPN Unsportsmanlike was discussing potential Bryce trade destinations and Miami and San Francisco are the two teams they kept discussing.

Can you imagine if Bryce went to those rosters with those HC's and turned his career around. That might be the nail in the coffin for Tepper.

Hell Baker and Darnold are already balling. Bryce balling out for his new team wouldn't shock me depending on what team trades for him.

sure, it's just a great setup in a vacuum.

but as he entered his 17th game of his career....it was still has 3rd HC, 3rd playcaller, 3rd O, who could count what # of OL setup it was....and his HC didn't give him any real time to work on things in the preseason under live fire.  It wasn't a great setup in reality for Bryce because all those things before the week 1 game factor.

We shouldn't of drafted Young.  But we did ensure we got the worst version of whatever he was going to be.  And that's a worry going forward, about the brainiacs in charge.  Their entire plan going into the Canales era was an utter joke.....and it was still utter joke even if they felt they would move on from him quickly.  Because they didn't setup and prep for that being a legit possibility.
