I think Young needs a sports psychologist…..

He's considerably worse than I expected. I thought he was gonna be one of those good backup/marginal starter types. Best case scenario I thought you were looking at like a Kirk Cousins type ceiling. But he honestly just flat out doesn't look NFL caliber.

Bryce honestly should've been a mid round pick. I said leading up to the draft that he looked like a 3rd or 4th round type pick where someone would roll the dice on a really good college player that probably won't translate in the off chance that he does.

What is this revisionism 😂😂  is this you below?  It's okay to say you were duped like the rest of us in thinking the "elite mental tools" (your words) would be enough to overcome the physical concerns.  You thought he was a 3rd or 4th round type pick that wouldn't translate in the NFL but you were cool with us taking him?  There were a lot of people VERY against taking Young, but you sure as hell were not one of them.  Apparently you've duped people harder than Bryce duped us, if you've got people thinking you were the leading voice in the pre-draft anti-Bryce movement.

Pretty much. I said long ago that ultimately I'll be fine with Young, Stroud, or Richardson. I can definitely understand the arguments for and against all three. So whoever our staff and brass likes best, let's go.

It's true. Him being high on AR and low on Young makes me question my sanity. 😂

I wouldn't even say I'm "high" on AR. I'm high on his athletic potential. His mental makeup is a complete unknown to me. My only concern with Young is his size. I think his arm is NFL average at best but I think he's good enough mentally that he can figure it out. I just don't know if he can figure out how to take a walloping from 280+ pound NFL freak athlete DL.

I've been saying for awhile now that I thought it might have come down to Young vs. Richardson much more so than Young vs. Stroud. Elite mental tools vs. elite physical tools.

I hope we do see someone as being "that guy". The guy we can't afford to gamble on missing out on. If that's Young, that's fine by me. Let's go!

I resorted to cope once it became obvious we were drafting him. If you followed the conversation I was very clearly against the drafting of Bryce based on concerns about his physical talent.

    • Yeah and he succeeded at an even higher level in LA with an even better surrounding cast. Goff is a guy that isn't really able to dramatically elevate players around him but he can make a good situation even better. He is capable of that. Some QB's aren't. I am not sure Dak is able to do that and he is in a similar "class" as Goff, IMO.
    • i think i could handle that for a year. beyond that....i don't know.  back where we lived, when we had a few inches of snow, it might have been a couple feet because we weren't getting out and doing anything. i remember times where power would go out for days on end. we had propane and electric heat, depending on the floor. basement (had a couple bedrooms and a living room and kitchen down there) and main floor had gas logs. main floor gas logs was enough to take care of the upstairs, so we could stay warm and cook on the grill when we needed. we had a well so that was always an issue when the power went out. had to make sure tubs were filled with water for the toilets and we had gallons of water for drinking and cooking available. always had to make sure we were ready. that wasn't always the case. we had a couple moments where we were going through propane quickly and because we were dealing with the worst propane company in the world (amerigas) they wouldn't get out to put gas in our 900 gallon tank. made for some nerve racking moments.  i know y'all were probably a lot more able to handle that kind of thing, but after the little bit (comparatively) that we got here i just have no desire to get trapped again. maybe for a day or two a year get snowed in and i'm good.
    • I think he is just drawing a DC to them line and that's about as far as his thought process went. It makes almost no sense outside of that. Also, it doesn't make sense for Pittsburgh or Seattle at this juncture either.  I think our "veteran" pool is basically gonna be the Dalton/Flacco tier or the "pick your poison" options of young busts(Jones/Z. Wilson) or wild, TO prone gunslingers(Darnold/Winston/etc). We have the option to pursue I genuinely believe(depending on the way the rest of this season goes), we either draft a QB in the top 10 or resign Dalton. Outlier third option on taking one of the wild gunslingers that Dave feels like he can work with.
