I know the WE NEED A 1ST ROUND QB NOW crowd will disagree with this, but this is the best play for the Panthers.

I'd immediately sign Desmond Ridder and trade for Aidan O'Connell. Let them compete with Young.

Let that play out over the next 3 seasons and draft Arch Manning if none of them are holding on to the starting QB spot with consistent GWD.

This is the way, if you want 3 more years of losing.

Why would arch come here?

Cause none of those guys feel like elite prospects.

No one knows how a college player will do until the suit up on Sundays.  That is true no matter how many talking heads call a player a generational talent.

Most of the guys that are elite were not considered elite prospects.  Patrick Mahomes was drafted behind Mitch Trubisky.  Tom Brady was a 6th rounder.  Josh Allen and Lamar Jackson were both drafted behind Sam Darnold.  And Jackson was also drafted behind Josh Rosen.

I have watched Cam Ward and the guy makes all the throws we would want, and for the most part, isn't used to having a loaded team around him.  Have no idea if he will be a elite NFL qb, or even a average NFL qb, but given the circumstances, I think he has as good a shot as anyone in the draft.

Ward is a better penix of this class. Not super overwhelming physically but been getting it done forever. Little different that he really didn't have the injury bug, just worked his way from up the rankings. Always had success everywhere he's been. Just older prospect. Competitor, played well in big games, lifts team mates up (making the talent that's always been at Miami pop now)

Not as old as Penix though.

As for the rest, I'm a little gunshy on Miami QBs after TVD. If Miami wins the ACC Championship I'll be all in on Ward because as he goes the offence goes this year.

I have to say it's hugely impressive that he's worked his way up from an unranked high school recruit at Incarnate Word up to the highest paid QB in the Transfer Portal at Miami. It stands him in really good stead that he's improved every year.

I want to see Ward deep in ACC play - y'know where you go on the road to VT and then face GT at home. We're everyone's Super Bowl, so I want to see if he can handle that level of intensity week in, week out.

That said all he's done so far this season is eviscerate the cupcakes we've faced so far on our way to a 3-0 record.
