I know a couple people have mentioned it, but this kinda eats at me. Just watched two fools talk about James and the "emergence" of the Cardinal run game. Wisenhunt knows it takes a run attack to win in the playoffs and he tried to do that in the ATL game, but how can this team be heralded for this ONE game so late in the year???

This is something we've developed from day one and have used it...BALANCE. Just boggles my mind how they don't even acknowledge it. Sure, you can comment on the other team, by negating any criticism about the opposition just makes you sound foolish and one track minded...

You're right.

They are not Fitzgerald and Boldin, but Smith and Muhammad are one of the best receiving tandems in the league. Of course, where we really shine is in our running game. But compare the yardage between Smith and Williams, Moose and Stewart and you'll find that the numbers are astonishingly close. We are a well-balanced offense.

The problem with teams like Arizona is that they are so dominant in one facet of the game, that any semblance at mediocrity in another facet makes them seem well-balanced. Think back to New Orleans and the glimmer of hope Pierre Thomas provided. I'm not saying he's not a good back (nor am I saying that in regards to James and Hightower), but much of their success comes from teams trying their damndest to stop a very powerful passing game.

This is not to say Arizona couldn't beat us without a running game. They almost did just that in week eight. Both teams have improved in the interim, but I think the Panthers have the edge here. DeAngelo especially really came on strong midway through the season. My fear is that even though we've improved on offense, we've really regressed on defense.

I can only hope that John Fox, as he's done in 2003 and 2005, has both sides ready to play.
