For real.

Over K'lavon Chaisson.

If our depth is as bad as you all say it is at Pass rusher, just think about how bad he must have actually been.

Ā

It's not chaisson being cut, its the miss-manage with the cap and timing of the cut. Panthers gave the guy 1 million in guarantees and news comes out they are 8 mill in the red.Ā

Timing wise, he's been here for all the OTAs, mini, TC etc. He even made it past the big cut and now days before the week one....Ā at the weakest spot??

FYI - if you take away clowney the Panthers have ZERO NFL sacks on the the roster at OLB. ZERO. If you add up DTs and LBs, is what 3.55 form 2023? I think 87 year old Troy hill isĀ #2 inĀ sacks or maybe Shaq is. Still the fact is the team struggles with sacks and that was with luvu&BB.Ā Ā

Ā

Awful timing(theme for them),Ā terrible cap management, and zero sacks for the group.Ā

I was like ā€œAdam Thielen is a legit sleeperā€

He was WR 60 and he was our #1 last year.

Man that hit me like a fresh pack of ZA, our one ranked 60th got dā€¦. Yea Iā€™m expecting Bryce to look light years better with the new additions a real number one WR who could potentially get big YAC early and often. Guards who can block and a coach who understands modern NFL philosophy. Weā€™llĀ know whatā€™s what Sunday around 4.

Last time they played a game that counted, Moton was probably the best OL out there for the Panthers.Ā

That's what I know.

Hopefully he isn't any more, let's hope he is the floor. But how much are you supposed to pay your OL? Getting pretty 'up there'.

How was it mis-managed? They made waiver claims that changed the cap situation. Saying it was mis-managed is just talking out your ass. Maybe it was, maybe it wasnā€™t, you have no clue. What we do know is Chaisson did absolutely nothing with his considerable opportunities both here and Jacksonville, was not worth his contract, and is easily replaced for less money. Also, Wonnum is supposed to be the starting OLB on the other side of Clowney so thereā€™s your other sacks on the roster, he just happens to be injured but heā€™ll be back.
Ā

We knew depth would be an issue all off-season and they are dealing with it the best they can as far as I can tell but thereā€™s only so much that can be done because of that salary cap you seem very concerned they be under at all times. You donā€™t like where the cap money is distributed and thatā€™s really all this is, itā€™s not like theyā€™re 50m under refusing to address needs. Too early to crucify this regime for dealing with the hand dealt by the last. I for one am more than happy they invested in OL at the expense of some defensive depth because the most important thing to evaluate this season is whether we have a franchise QB.

Also throw in when you are a bottom tier team you have to take some risks and slightly overpay to attract some players. Unfortunately thatā€™s part of it.Ā

Nobody gets a discount.Ā  It's rare but sometimes a ring chaser will give a discount.Ā  >90% of the time they go where the money is.Ā  That's free agency.Ā  That's why drafting is so critical.

    • This is factually incorrect. He was a two time Pro Bowler with the Rams and in fact statistically he was better with the Rams in his best season there than he has been with the Lions(could change with this season). Some of his per game stats have creeped into being marginally better with the Lions but there have not been dramatic differences in his play, actually. The biggest reason that McVay andĀ he ended up splitting was McVay didn't think he could win a title with Goff. TBH.....so far he was 100% correct. Stafford almost immediately won them a SB and Goff in a historic run was about 70% of the reason the Lions faltered in the NFC championship game. He missed critical throws all over the first half and throughout the second half that he normally wouldn't. He choked. So, until Goff actually does win a SB...McVay has been right.
    • they have the best defense they've had in a long time...probably the best in the reid/mahommes era.Ā  but i think they are probably the most beatable they've been in a while as well. record doesn't exactly bear that out, but they just don't look as strong on offense as they usually do. lots of reasons for that, like trying to build chemistry with newer receivers, but right now they just aren't as frightening as they typically are. i mean they'll probably win tomorrow, but i don't see them as the strongest team in the AFC right now.Ā
    • He will likely remain unsigned the remainder of this season(barring someone being in a pure QB panic AND making poor decisions) largely due to the cost. I do think he will get multiple offers to be a backup QB and perhaps a couple to potentially start this offseason.Ā  I will continue to beat the same horse over and over.....he should go to a successful team with an established starter. If I were him, go to somewhere like SF, LAR, etc. Somewhere with a successful QB coach and brilliant offensive mind and ALSO a set situation at QB. Ride the pine and adjust for a year or two. Chill and be around better culture. I would suggest the same for Bryce but he will be limited to wherever we can trade him.Ā
