I think the portal and NIL will level the playing field somewhat over the top 25 or so. Four and five star recruits are going to be a lot less patient sitting and waiting their turn when they can enter the portal and cash a check AND hit the field for sure next year. Part of the dominance of the top teams was being able to gobble up a ton of the elite talent oftentimes keeping a lot of it riding the pine. I think there's a lot less of that now and that'll be the new norm.

and that very well could happen.  If this season becomes more the norm, then I would back off my complaint.

Sucks for the kid they don't play defense in the ACC.

Red flags already. Also he chose Dabo over BB. Kid is confused.

I mean if you want to go to the league as a defensive lineman….Clemson is a proven smart place to go under Dabo.  It is what it is.

I thought you said UNC was going to build a national championship team with these portal kids NEXT year.  I mean if he is a bum, what is the rest of it?

Clemson already got two future first rounders on that line for him to roleplay around

BB building a NFL caliber program. We training entirely different. The guys we had this year will be stronger, smarter, faster. The transfers are coming.

Im more worried about the QB position. We have to hit on that guy.

Oh, I see…so Bill just going to train so wildly different vs the rest of college football that over a spring/summer whatever bodies exist will make a run at a natty year one.  I was confused then by how it was going to work.

I honestly hope Bill helps bring some respect to the ACC.  I’m on the fence on if it would work though.  I do think your expectations for year 1 are a tad nuts though.  Bill needs time.

I guess I’ll be defending Bill next year when you are bashing him lol

It's the ACC. Look at our schedule I see a easy 10 wins at least. Clemson is our toughest opponent. If we hit on the QB I have no doubt the defense will be improved.

ACC championship is very much realistic. Players have to buy in. You want to prepare for the NFL come play for Chapel Bill.

*Also like Prime, I don't think this will be a longterm thing. If you ask me he did this to set up his son to be the next HC. He will leave for the NFL in the next few years. Hell he wins the ACC championship his 1st year he can walk off into the sunset.

Nation's top-rated portal QB Darian Mensah headed to Duke (explains Loftis' immediate portal entry after Murphy's). https://www.espn.com/college-football/story/_/id/42912191/darian-mensah-top-rated-qb-transfer-portal-commits-duke

Really excited for this kid.

We had to run some agonizingly simple schemes for a large part of this season because Maalik Murphy was a statue and couldn't run RPOs and had other issues in the short game. It's part of why we scored zero points in the first half against a bad UNC defense (even though we ended up winning the game).

We brought in a solid pass-catching tight end as well. Want to see us add a portal WR, too. Duke should be even better next season, the defense doesn't look like it's going to take a step back.

Top player in the portal signs with Duke who happens to be a QB.

Impressive signing.

No clue what your schedule will look like yet…Clemson fairly predictable because they will still be portal light.  Syracuse might bring their QB back.  If they do, they would be favorited over y’all.   No clue what TCU and others will look like yet that likely make lots of moves.

I am not sure Bill will be better than a lot of college coaches.  But I do think he will bring a lot of attention and probably get some very good players recruiting wise and in the portal.

    • Probably so in the big picture.  The 2025 class has largely already been recruited though.  The portal is what it is.   Bill going to need time to find the kids that will be what he wants and that will put up with his world/ways.   i just think the auto contender next year stuff is silly.  I’m largely just needling and addressing the timetable Whoa put out there.  He needs time.

    • This is dumb, but not as dumb as declining a massive trade for Brian Burns. It’s completely baffling and embarrassing.
