Sounds like all of our portal guys are pulling their names out until they can talk to the new staff. I have a friend in Greensboro who has a lot of local sports connections and used to work for ESPN. There's a certain 5* 2026 QB committed to an SEC team who is evidently ready to flip on a dime to Carolina when Carolina really wasn't even in the running for him during his recruitment.

stop it.

The defense was actually pretty dang good under Butch Davis, the problem was the offense. If you put Drake Maye on that 2009 team instead of Bryn Renner then you’ve got a top 10 team. But Quinn, Coples, Austin, Sturdivant, Brown, Carter, Thomas, Wilson, Reddick, and Searcy all spent time in the NFL.

Hell, in the 26 games from 2008 to 2009, UNC allowed 30+ points only 3 times.

Absolutely. The D is gonna be good again finally. We may only get that much, but that much wins games.

I keep thinking about this and wondering why he has a 1 mil buyout so early in the contract.  That is interesting.

So he can leave to do what he actually wants if he can find a way back in.  Think he ideally wants to be in the NFL and getting those wins.
