Looks like UNC might be hiring Dan Mullen and that’s honestly probably the best they can do. Mullen probably wins 8 or 9 games a year and maybe sneaks UNC into the CFP once or twice over the next 10 years and the university builds him a statue.

Also it’s a shame UNC didn’t recruit LaNorris Sellers, he was a Carolina fan growing. SCar has a good one there.

You are one odd duck. Your offense has over 500 yards and you put up 38 points. Your defense blows. It's been that way all year long but you've insisted on putting the blame on your #1 overall caliber QB and the offense that has carried the load for a bad defense.

We were 21-0 up and lost.

Why did the O disappear or 2 quarters against a poor Syracuse D? That's not a #1 overall calibre QB when it continues to happen (our 2Q stats this year are awful).

The D is bad, but the O knew this and needed to continue to pile on. Against GT and against Syracuse it didn't and we lost.

LOL! Exactly my point.

You always find a way to blame the strength of your team for not being stronger even though it's very obvious what's holding your team back. You're ranked #1 in the country in average points per game and average yards per game and you're ranked #75 in average points allowed and #111 in average yards allowed and yet damn near everyday you're on here making an ass of yourself bitching about how your offense isn't doing enough and how your QB is obviously not elite.

McCord had some beautiful throws in that Miami game.  Him and that Pena (especially) impressed.

Jeanty is an absolute beast.  Hard to see him slip past the top-10, even as a RB

Ricky White Jr. from UNLV is a WR to watch.  He excelled even with their crazy QB situation this year.  High end talent.

Day 0-4 against Michigan (and losing to this year's Michigan team) is rough

SMU will not be a pushover for the playoffs

The highest rolling teams are Oregon & SMU.  Texas maybe.  Unsure if Penn State, ND, & UGA have enough offensive firepower at this point, they've been so hit/miss, this playoff season is a tossup if Oregon doesn't run the table.

I'd honestly be surprised if it's Mullen. An older coach who has been out of coaching while working the broadcast booth for several years reliving his glory days? Sounds like a poor man's Mack Brown.

Listening to what Bubba has been saying I think this hire is probably a younger coach who sells him on being able to operate in the new NIL/portal era, not a guy who has made his bones in a past era of college sports.

McCord or Rourke could be two mid to later round QB prospects I’d be interested in. Could develop into high end backups with some starter traits.

The fact that Indiana is somehow in the playoff discussion with their atrocious schedule is a mockery of what the playoff is supposed to be. They will get smoked by any top 15 team.

How do you leave out an 11-1 BIG10 team in a 12 team format?

Just this weekend, #2 and #6 just got beat by unranked teams.  Took #4 8 OTs to beat an unranked ACC team.  There just don’t to be any great teams this year.   And non- great teams have bad weeks.

12 team format is just meh.  I think the bigger argument is conference champs shouldn’t get an auto entry.   I mean, imagine if Clemson and Iowa St win this weekend.  Which both could happen. Coin flip games really.  Spread think opened 1.5 or 2.5 on those.  That would be 2 teams outside the top 15 in.   If you can’t punish teams for losing, then you can’t really reward them either so they ain’t moving

Columbia, SC going to have a stroke if Clemson gets in and they are on the outside and get sent to the Taco Bell Kmart Bowl vs Miami lol.  Indiana won’t be talked about then

really torn.  I do want Clemson to win the ACC.  That would be 8 of the last 10 and 2 of the last 3.  That would feel good given the hate Dabo gets about the portal /NIL.   I don’t care to see them in a CFP they don’t belong in though.  Because they don’t.   So Clemson would just get poo on for pulling off the ACC in the end.  A win/lose.

I'm not saying you leave them out, I'm just saying that teams with weak schedules should he punished. What encourages teams to play tough if a team with the 105th toughest schedule cruises in?

    • This is why it's probably going to be hard to trade down. This draft is fairly light on top tier talent but pretty deep in talent of that next tier down. I don't think there's going to be a lot of teams clamoring to move up and numerous teams might be entertaining moving down. Not a good market to trade down if that's the case.
    • And if they can't find a reasonable trade down (I think we would need a 2nd rounder this year bare minimum to make any trade down worth it). I would definitely expect Dan to trade UP for an EDGE or LB in the top half of R2. Just makes too much sense. We also have a plethora of mid round picks to use as ammo.
    • I don't mean to make this a mock draft thread particularly,  but every time I do a mock I have been investigating the talent that goes off the board between picks 8 and our low 2nd rounder pick 57. There is a gargantuan amount of talent still left on the board in the top half of the 2nd round every time I do one. Losing our original 2nd round pick to the Bears as the last pick of the Bryce trade stings badly .  I'm particularly looking at elite players like Carson Schwesinger (LB), Luther Burden (WR), Matthew Golden (WR), Maxwell Hairston (CB) , Nick Scourton , Landon Jackson, Donavan Ezeraku (all DEs/OLBs) . The sweet spot in this draft really feels like pick 15 to 40 - ish. This is why the Bears should be making bank with this draft. I don't know how realistic a trade down is from 8, but if we could pick up any teams higher 2nd rounder and still grab their 1st? We'd be cooking with gas man.  Say for example we get Tet McMillan at pick 8, if you wait all the way to 57 you stand the chance of not getting any impact pass rushers in this draft. And I don't think this team can afford that.  I'd personally love for them to take a break from drafting wrs in R1 or R2 (i think we've taken one in the top 2 rounds in the majority of the past few years), and stick to repairing the nfls worse defense in history (in terms of total points against iirc, or was it yards? Also included my most recent mock as an example . Don't put too much into the  late round selections lol
