I’ve backed off the Parsons comp.

He reminds me more of Von Miller coming out of A&M.  Probably the last Edge rusher coming out that I’ve seen that can accelerate, start and stop at Edge.

If he run at the combine,  his split times and shuttle drills should be off the charts.

And , this is just his first year playing Edge Rusher.  After coming on as a LB his first few seasons.

Seems like it's rare these days for presumed top 10 picks to do much other than measure in at the Combine.

I dont think Parsons is that rangy but perhaps a bit more powerful.  But Carter seemed to be everywhere last night.

Parsons doesn’t have that bend and acceleration which is crazy to think considering how athletic he is.

Walker, more I think reminds me of Parsons.  Little more power, plays LB and Plays like a LB but is a monster pass rusher if you decided to use him there.

Walker is an animal and I would be happy with him but man carter looked like the tasmanian devil last night and that was obviously against a top level team

Walker.
Now some people may not like the idea.

But if we draft him , I want to put him at that Pass Rushing MLB spot Luuvu players.  And where Baron Browing played in Denver under Evero.

Then go sign a Josh Sweat in FA to play the other Edge opposite of Clowney.

And when he tries to dip under the tackle or rush from inside, he rips with his left hand--I watched him the whole game, and he never ripped with his left hand-he was protecting it (a should is most vulnerable when away from the body, and he was holding it tight, for the most part.  He was fighting them with "one hand tied behind his back," in other words.   In my view, that is probably why he was on the RT all night unless over center. Not sure how much he shifts to the Defensive right, but he never did.  I would take him in the first.   Another player with some similarities (listed as a LB more than an edge--sorta like Parsons--is Javon Walker from Salisbury through UGA.  He can play edge or move around to make the defense find Waldo.

Taking out the two QBs (have to a assume they go before us atp)

Hunter

Graham

McMillan

Carter

Johnson

Walker

Those are top players and not reaches at 8

I think New England goes OT personally but who knows

I've felt the same but wondered if it was just not catching enough of his games. And I feel his father pushes him slightly down too lol

It’s a QB needy league.  Someone will take him top 5.

I just don't see any plus traits he has at the NFL level. His arm and athleticism are average at the NFL level while he's undersized and no one thinks he's a Bryce Young type where they're expecting his football mind to carry him. He's a Caleb Williams type where he holds the ball forever looking for the big play except he doesn't have the arm talent and despite that arm talent and receiver corps we still saw Williams struggle with the transition to the NFL as a rookie.

He's basically a backyard style QB with marginal physical talent. That's not a good combo.

    • I just want to see what he looks like when the games mean something.
    • Depends how you define "believe in." He improved a ton post-benching but that improvement still did not yield franchise QB level play in my eyes. I certainly "believe" he could continue to develop and improve and maybe get to being a franchise QB. But as it sits right now I still don't think it's super likely that he will be our answer at QB long term. I hope he does and am rooting for him. But I do believe there are physical and skill limitations that could hold him back, and as much as he did improve he still has a long way to go to actually being a top QB. He's shown enough that I am ok going into next year with him as our QB, but we should still evaluate other opportunities to get a franchise QB if they are there. Although really unlikely for various reasons I would consider drafting Ward and trading Bryce away. Otherwise I don't like the QBs in the draft or FA/trade options so Bryce it is for another year anyways.
