The ACC has fell off it's been a while since I considered them the big Dawgs. Hell I might have been a teenager the last time the ACC were the big Dawgs of college football.

I don't think we are having the same convo though.  What the ACC was and will be has nothing to do with my point. 

If Clemson and SC had identical resumes.  Today.  Right now.  They didn't play each other in this make believe scenario.  The CFP likely puts Clemson in over them.  And that doesn't have anything to do with ACC or SEC.   The reason they would be putting Clemson in over them.....matters.  That's my point.  Not saying it should.  But it does.  It's why Bama is where they are today too.  And no schedule tinkering changes that element.   It's an eyeball/money game.  Who can get the most eyeballs outside of where you exist. 

If you spawned into the universe in 2020.....and had to list the 2 best teams programs in college football are.  It was Bama and Clemson.   And you probably had to put Clemson ahead.  That wasn't long ago.   And If you were a teen then, then you still are a youngster.

Clemson was a big deal back then. The problem is their history wasn't deep enough playing at that championship level. There is no history with Clemson besides Dabo and that's my point. Clemson doesn't have that history to back them up as a rich powerhouse school.

yeah, I still don't think we are having the same convo.  I'm talking about WHY teams get bumps over others.  It's not history.  It's eyeballs.  Sometimes they are in synergy together and sometimes is just about who can draw the most eyes today (and history can be irrelevant there). 

I'm glad you pointed out you are young.  You are younger than I thought.  Clemson probably got more history than you think.   You could throw Dabo's nattys in the trash....and they still got more nattys than most of the SEC teams.

This probably is the wrong place to post this,  but since College football is the sport that brings home the bacon..     What we just witnessed in the ACC vs SEC basketball challenge could be the tip of the iceberg.   The SEC  ( and big 10 also )  are bringing in so much more money than the ACC  ( and all the other conferences )  ,  that the SEC basketball  will become the best that money can buy .  Their NIL  is off the charts compared to the ACC.  

The Genie is out of the bottle now. It will stay this way unless all conferences join together to control it.  Coaches are spending 40 % of their time with NIL concerns.  

We are already seeing this in college football.  The gap is growing in size.   

The SEC went 11-2  these past two nights.  It wasn't really close.  They are better. 

Move or delete this if in the wrong place.

Since you talking basketball what the hell is North Carolina doing not going after a big man in the transfer portal. This team might have a losing record this year. Hubert might get himself fired after that huge mistake. You can't win without a legit big.

Belichick made the daily life miserable for highly NFL players.  Not sure that model is going to work for college kids who can hit the portal at a minutes notice.

NIL still has a cap right? I think eventually most big ACC schools start maxing out the fully amount.  Probably a little too early to stay.  Just like this past year, I think the moving is far from over.  And the SEC frankly needs to swap out some teams. 

Top 2 SEC teams did go down though.  Go Tigers

Just bizarre. I can't understand why either party would have any interest in this as a legit candidacy. Maybe ole randy Bill has eyes for one of our cheerleaders or something. LOL!

I really hope it's just an effort to pick the brain of an all-time great coach and Bill is down for it for a nice meal and a round at Pinehurst or something. I don't, just bizarre.

He might not have another choice. Big reason he didn't get many NFL suitors last year was because he wanted power. Not sure if anyone is desperate enough to give a defensive HC that much power. He has to give up the idea if he wants to continue in the NFL imo.

I don't think it's real traction, but I can see BB being forced out of the NFL if he still wants power as a GM. Not many NFL teams going to give him that type of control especially as a defensive HC. 

 

College sadly might be his only real option.
