Miami is a pretty mediocre P5 team carried by a #1 overall pick type of QB. Subtract Cam Ward and replace him with Average Joe P5 QB and they have 3 or 4 losses.

So basically what Maye was with Carolina?

The ACC in general is a joke. SMU is the newcomer and they might be the best team in the conference.

Yep. I've been saying all year that Miami is reminiscent of the Howell and Maye Heels teams. Their D sucks but it doesn't suck THAT bad though.

If you don’t punish teams for losing in a title game then how would you keep Miami out if they win this weekend and then lose to SMU?   They would have to get an at large in that scenario.

Because people have been brainwashed, like yourself, into thinking that the ACC is a joke conference.

They'll definitely put 4 SEC and 4 BIG10 teams in. You're then looking at the ACC Champion, the other Conference Champion and then it's a toss up for those final 2 spots.

There's a lot of Sunday players on that pretty mediocre P4 team, but I respect that you keep banging that drum.

You have a very good QB.

and I have been very consistent about knocking Miami for their ACC play.  And Miami definitely got some ref aid along the way.

VT was up in the 4th

Cal was up in the 4th

Lou tied in the 4th

Duke 1 pt game in the 4th

Loss to GT

Wake 6 pt game in the 4th

but in a neutral site…I’m not sure they are even favored vs the #2 or #3 teams in the ACC.  Because of all the other dudes not named Ward.

So is a game not 60 minutes long?

We're being criticised now for pulling away in the 4Q? Why were Alabama / Georgia et al in their pomp not punished for that?

If you can point out the refereeing decisions that went in our favour I'd be much appreciated (and you can miss me with the clear non-catch against VT on a Hail Mary).

Ward was a 5th round pick coming into this year. I think a few of you are going to be surprised what he actually does in the NFL - I love what he's done at Miami, but a great deal of what he's been able to achieve is because he's surrounded by very, very good players.

I mean, the ACC is definitely nowhere near as strong as the SEC and Big 10. That's just reality.

For the last 20 years the SEC has had a couple of elite teams and a lot of guys making up the numbers. They don't have any elite teams this year.

The BIG10 has had OSU and occasionally Michigan. Nebraska ain't scarin' anybody.

I'm not talking about the last 20 years. I'm talking about right now. Today.

Circle back when you get thumped by three scores by a top 5 type of team in the playoffs.

I've never said we're going to win the National Championship. We're in the third part of this cycle, it's just been accelerated slightly by dropping a good QB into the mix:

  • Lose Big
  • Lose Small
  • Win Small
  • Win Big

Ok, the SEC have no elite teams TODAY.

The BIG10 have Oregon (new to the conference) and OSU (always liable to lose when they face a good team).

Um…ok.

so lets say Miami likely is #6 this week. They beat Syracuse.  So let’s say are at worst going into title game as #6…..and then you said the committee won’t punish teams for losing….so I still don’t square how they would keep Miami out if they lost and aren’t punished for losing.

I’m a Clemson guy.  I don’t think the ACC is a joke but they aren’t the SEC.  If the past decade another team had stepped up with Clemson they would have been the BIG10

What the Playoff Committee says they're going to do and what they actually do are almost certainly wildly different thigs.
