So just franchise tag him when the time comes. You can't get paid two tags.

Again, it's all cart before the horse stuff.

Oh, and yes, it's cart before the horse to discuss it before it comes to it, but it's something that needs to be considered before drafting him, as I think it's all very legitimate as he wants to play both sides.

To not discuss it internally as to how he'll respond if you don't allow it, would be the front office not doing their job.

Another thing you might not be considering is the beating he's going to take in the NFL vs college. And that's on top of the beating his body has taken so far. Trying to play both ways in the NFL might see his career end before his rookie contract does.

Oh I'm more than considering that, I've said many times on here lately that part of why I don't think he can be a WR in the NFL is because of his rail thin frame and he's already dealt with injuries each of his 3 years in college because of that combined with the beating he's taking playing both sides of the ball.

All of it is why he NEEDS to end up on one side or the other.

But again, that's where my concern is, when a team forces that on him, he could end up becoming a locker room cancer because he doesn't like it.  Particularly if he's a CB and that team's offense is struggling, he won't like it and he'll be a diva about it.

He's being a total diva about being the #2 player in Heisman betting odds while getting to play both sides.  What's he going to be like when he's stuck on a 4-13 team, playing CB, while his offense is putting up 10 points a game?

Surely he's not delusional enough to think he can be a full time two way player at the NFL level. If he wants to play both ways, then he needs to play CB. It's a lot easier to scheme up some plays to get him some snaps at WR than at CB. Which is honestly probably most NFL teams' plan for him anyway.

I mean, as recently as a few weeks ago he was saying he was going to play both sides of the ball full time in the NFL, it's why guys like Sauce started saying how there's no way it could actually be done at that level.  I genuinely think he believes he can and expects to play both sides of the ball full time in the NFL, as of right now at least, we'll see if he changes his tune during the pre-draft process.

I'd had these concerns for a month or so now as he's been complaining on podcasts, but I told myself that's what kids do these days, just go on podcasts and complain.

It's him flying across the country on his bye to go on the morning gamely shows so he could do it there in person that has my red flag alarm going crazy right now.  And in the last few days is when those videos of him "stealing" things from Deion started showing up.

The whole thing with him and Deion just rubs me the wrong way too.  It's great for a HC and his players to get along, but they're way too buddy buddy and I wonder what he'll be like when he's not treated like a quasi-son by his NFL HC.

If Deion is letting him actually believe this stuff then he's doing the kid a massive disservice. If he's in his ear behind the scenes telling him to run up the marketing but telling him the truth then okay.

You're talking about two different things though

If Deion is behind his open campaigning for himself for Heisman, that wouldn't surprise me and in the end, I'd get it, they're trying to win the Heisman.  But his openly talking about expecting a two-way player in the NFL, that's not going to help him, so I can't see how Deion would be telling him to do that as a marketing ploy.

If he were saying things like, "I think I can be a 2 way player at the next level, but I'm going to start by focusing on one side of the ball to be the best I can be, and then if I get the opportunity to do both, I'm going to take it" then it would be helping him look better.

But by just saying he expects to be a full time 2 way player, he's only hurting himself as GM's may do what I'm doing, and question what his mindset will be when he can't do both.

If I'm being honest, I think Deion is actually behind making him think he can do both at the next level.  Deion did it a little bit and I think part of his own ego is the thought of coaching up the next guy to try it and getting him to succeed at doing it.

Talk up your NCAA two way play as a marketing ploy for the Heisman = Totally fine

Talk up being a 2 way NFL player as a marketing ploy for the draft =  Delusion

Hunter winning the Heisman would be HUGE for Deion.

    • I have no clue how much he will be on the field. I hope he plays well and doesn't get injured. Keep in mind that rookie rbs are typically hampered by struggling a bit with pass protection assignments. It seems it is a bit more of an adjustment from the college game.
