Will Legette be “red shirted” this year?

Legette has been having a slow start to his rookie year. He’s probably 4th or 5th on the depth chart at this point and didn’t really make an impact in the preseason or training camp.

I have a feeling the Panthers might try to open up a roster spot for a special teams player like ISM or David Moore by stashing Legette on IR with a mysterious practice injury to start his rookie year while he has more time to adjust to the pro game. Legette had limited play time in college and probably isn’t quite ready to compete at the pro level.

They passed on more pro ready WRs to pick Legette so they have to eat this one until he’s ready.

Fug no.

it’s frankly the orgs fault IMO.  It’s not XLs fault they didn’t get him real preseason work with a semi functional QB and actually work him.

and it would make no sense to do that to him….and let Brooks come in a 1/4 of the way into the season.

He can’t practice if he’s on IR.

No way they do that with their #1 pick.

I am already getting bust vibes.  If I were the WR coaches I would start putting serious time into teaching him the nuances of the WR position.  Need to move up the learning curve for him asap.  He is a very raw speed size guy right now who seems a bit lost

He’s probably just gonna get some short crossing routes and some bubble screens for a couple yards here and there hoping to break some tackles.

I agree that the pick was pretty questionable. Panthers had a need for a polished WR prospect and there were many other options, but choose the rawest prospect on the board. Panthers gonna Panther

AD Mitchell was right there, and he also played with Brooks and Sanders in college so added transition to NFL support. Mitchell fell in the draft due to "personality issues" but has looked very good in preseason for the Colts and just has the pop you want in a WR out there in his preseason highlights.

I wasn't a fan pf Legette before the draft, but was pulling for the kid after the draft because of his likability, but he looks pretty bad and very clearly not a WR1, which is not what you want from a first round pick.
