Santonio Holmes traded to JETS!!!

Man for a 5th that seemed to be the best option available for WR and I didn't even know he was on the block. Ah well Holmes is a good receiver but its not like hes Brandon Marshall or anything and your taking on the same baggage (albeit less compensation). Makes you wonder how much the Broncos lost with this trade. If that is the going rate for a problem WR they have no leg to stand on asking for more then a 2nd.

Bolden was traded for a 3rd with no off the field problems and Holmes only fetched a 5th. He might just end up being traded for less then expected. If its less the 48th pick value I will throw things.

Four game suspension facing a player who will be expected to produce immediately means you possibly have to gameplan for not having him right off the bat and then switch gears after the first quarter of a season and hope that a) everyone can be productive without him and B) everyone can assimilate to the new mindset after he's on the field. Things get even more complicated if both recievers start the year on the sidelines.

Tricky to plan around. Not many coaches who would take that on.

Let's just hope out choir boy keeps getting 2 game suspensions.

Some of you really need too get a clue. THe Jets just got a superbowl MVP for a 5th round pick!!! This was a steal with little risk. For all you who don't think this please tell me a 5th round pick that can give you 79 cacthes 1,236 yards and 5-6 TD? Even if he misses the 1st 4 games I don't see a 5th round pick who makes a impact in the 1st 3-4 years of their career. Plus he is only 26 years old!!! Please don't give me the whole hollier then thou thing we do have a wr who has sucker punch 2 of his teammate. Not to mention a whole Oline who was jucieing and a drunk QB who if he didn't quit would still be on the team. A Olinmen (chris Terry) who put a gun in a women face and he only left in FA. We just let another player fall out our laps. How many times will this happen this offseason.

No, you need to get a clue, and so does everyone else who thinks the Panthers should have picked him up.

He's suspended 4 games of 16, which means he's going to miss a quarter of the season (25% - that's a lot). It's possible he will have more suspension time and could eventually get jail time. He's had a rough history and it's likely he wants to be a star wherever he goes (Read: not a good fit here). What else do I have to add? Hell, the first one is reason enough not to trade a 5th for him when there are so many WR's so deep into the draft.

How many 5th round picks are going to start 12 games for their team? And I mean start, not just play.

yeah we should have gone after the junkie who can't keep clean but wants a big pay day who wanted to play for a big market team, looking at a 4 game suspension and if he screws up again (which is INCREDIBLY LIKELY because the guy is a fool) he could be out for a year.

yeah....we really screwed up on this one not going after holmes. lol

GO be a Raiders or Bengals fan. If you were a Panthers fan, you'd have known they would never move on that. The man has admitted to issues with quitting smoking weed!!!! He is facing his second suspension for it!!! The next is a year. We went through that with Rashard Anderson.

As for your other stuff, the team took action against Smitty. The Oline never failed a single test for PEDs, Terry was released, not simply not re-signed. Collins asked for a trade but was waived instead. Facts- try to use a few.

yeah....i'm thinking he's going to get that 4 game suspension and probably gonna get a year long suspension before too long. the dude is stupid. that stupid is going to get him kicked out of the league.

The 4 game suspension is actually a really big deal that I think some people are overlooking. There is a difference between practice and playing real games, and missing that time with his teammates damages his ability to play well with them, not to mention gives him less experience with the Panthers system. Plus, who is going to pick up that slack while he's suspended? 4 games is nothing to joke about when at the end of the season one game can mean the difference between another lack-luster season and the playoffs.

Then, his continued stupidity (your link - as well as the multiple times he's been caught and the allegations against him) is going to get him suspended for much longer. In fact, I have a feeling he might get more than a year, especially if anything else creeps up about his "habits."

This may have been a good move for the Jets, but I think it was better for the Panthers to sit this one out. Also, it's not like the Steelers spent much time looking for the better deal; they wanted him out as soon as possible, apparently. How would the Panthers even have time to make them a deal?

God, these threads are ridiculous. I love getting the news but then it's always like 2-3 people who are usually completely random (as in, not the same people each time) who seem to think the Panthers are a completely different team than what they really are.

Probably not many, but that doesn't mean there won't be any. It's all about the player, which is exactly the point about Holmes; he's not the player the Panthers want.
