I'll go w/ Florio on this one. a 5th round pick. jeez!!

this is actually great news for us. it was widely expected that Jets were going to go WR with their 1st pick, so this means the chain of WR's is going to get bumped up a pick!

you know what. you are absolutely correct. I know JR doesn't like trouble makers, but for a 5th round pick, i would have made an exception

That was a huge missed opportunity for Carolina. Guy is a threat and a beast at that. For so cheap (5th rounder) that's a risk you just take. That would have been clutch, fill that WR need while surrendering a dirt-cheap pick if you consider the possibilities. Then that 2nd round pick can address another need without people busting the FO balls for not taking a receiver.

That is all. haha

Not gonna happen. I still strongly believe we will draft a big WR who can run block. Either Thomas, Benn, or Decker. Moose was an important variable to our run game.

I swear to Jebus if they just traded him for a fifth rounder I'm going be ****** pissed at our front office for not doing this..... THIS WOULD HAVE BEEN PERFECT .... instant contribution from a guy who can stretch the field .... little bit of a headcase but nothing his suspension and a talk from Mr. Beason can't handle...... and all for a flipping fifth rounder.... all i gotta say is:

The Twitter servers are being overloaded this evening as word spreads like wildfire of the trade that sent Super Bowl XLIII MVP Santonio Holmes to the New York Jets.

Ironically, the move comes only days after Ken Laird of ESPN 1250 in Pittsburgh reported that Holmes didn't believe the Steelers will pay him big money, and that Holmes wanted to play in a big market.

And so the former Buckeye is now paired with a former Wolverine, Braylon Edwards. (Not that there's anything wrong with that.) They'll both be catching passes from a former Trojan, while a former Horned Frog sits at the end of the bench and pouts.

Meanwhile, Peter King of SI.com and NBC put it best in characterizing the move: "A shot across the bow to Big Ben." King also points out that the Steelers could have played this out for something more than a fourth-round pick, but that the Steelers opted to get it done, displaying a "we're not gonna take it anymore attitude."

We're also wondering whether the Steelers pulled the trigger on the deal so quickly because they fear there's a chance that, come 2:00 p.m. E.T. on Monday, they'll get another dose of bad news from District Attorney Fred Bright, ESPN's report on the matter notwithstanding.

Either way, the stakes for Monday's press conference just went way, way up. If Roethlisberger gets charged, he could be the next one to be traded for a cold turkey sandwich with wilted lettuce.

upset for not spending a 5th round pick (that we don't have) on a guy that is going to be missing 4 games and looking at possible jail time? come on....i don't care how good he is if he has the future of rae carruth.

anyone who actually thought the panthers would consider picking a guy of this crappy character seriously doesn't know their favorite team very well. sorry...not at all unhappy about "missing" out on this clown.

this just means that someone like golden tate got a bit more available to us. i'd rather have a guy with a future that doesn't include jail time over a guy who did great for a while but self destructed.

steelers did think they could get a 4th for him but they didn't want to mess around. that has to tell you what kind of headache/headcase this guy is.
