And of course I didn't answer your question; I wasn't going to spend my time looking for the answer so I gave the general answer "not many." And no, with the talent in this draft, it's not worth the risk when you can get so many good players deep into the draft, even if they don't pan out. Look at it this way:

Let's say the Panthers choose some player in the 5th round and it takes them 3 years to become a starter, but they are good and end up playing for 5 more years for the Panthers.

On the other hand, you have a WR who is probably going to miss his first four games with you, then miss a year, possibly go to jail and miss more years. But, let's ignore all that and say he only misses 4 games. Things don't work out anyway due to his attitude and personality (he doesn't give up his habits) and he only stays for a year or two.

Who was of more value in the long run?

You have a whole lot of "if this happen or if that happens" going on. I'm not saying Holmes is a sure bet either but the odds are better that he gets his poo right and gives you good production. Over this team finally picking a good wr and devloping him. All this is really me still being pissed that we didn't make a play for Boldin who would have been perfect. Holmes would have been OK player too take a chance on with what the Jets gave to get him.
